Spot On One of Our Resident Bird Dogs ( Hawk)

~What intense concentration. Hawk is frozen in his concentration. What could the object of such intense scrutiny be? ~
~Why, it is Belle. Belle is my cockatiel and she can whistle 'Jingle bells' and 'Thy Loving Kindness' often intermingling the two tunes and sometimes throwing a few wolf whistles, car alarm sounds and dial tones in. She has eclectic taste in music.
~Hawk, a bird dog..is fascinated by Belle. But when Hawk decides he needs to stick his nose through the bars and do a little pushing I just say sharply, " HAWK".............~
~And he sits right down and behaves himself. He is , after all, a properly ( most of the time ) trained and well behaving Vizsla.~
Blessings: pet birds, entertaining and devoted dogs

  2. LOL That is too cute, Miss Kathy!! Poor Hawk just wishes he could whistle like Belle, I'm sure. LOL

If she ever learns to make cat sounds, she'll be in big trouble!!

  3. What precious pictures. Pets sure do make life interesting, don't they?

  4. Hawk is a lovely dog, that has been our problem with our lab mixed female and her brother whom we had to put to sleep in November '08. We would teach them "No birds, No cats" and they would listen and haven't gotten any of our ducks or guineas but we no longer have guineas now though.

  5. What a good boy! That prey drive can be really hard to harness :)

Come on over to pick up your award!

  7. Omigosh, that is too wonderful...!!! I would love to have a cockatiel. Have you ever seen the YouTube videos of Snowball the dancing cockatoo? If not, you should log on and have a look. Too funny!

    Hawk is gorgeous!

  8. Hawk is such a handsome boy! And I love his name! And I've always been fascinated by cockatiels - I know they are pretty smart! I had a friend who had one - and when she let it out - it would sometimes gnaw on the wood of her door frames - and she would tell him no, bad bird. Well then the bird started gnawing again saying "bad bird, bad bird" -
    that always cracked me up!

  9. Too cute! When my daughter was young my step father gave her a cockatiel. She named him Mohawk and he was a regular menace! He could whistle and talk some. His trick was to screech "WATCH!" He would then pick up a seed in his beak and shoot it across the room. He also knew how to curse so he did not live here long!

  11. Miss Linda, thank-you, and yes, Belle gives me a boost every morning with a wolf whistle as I pour my coffee.

Farm Chick Paula,I have wondered when she will pick up cat sounds...she loves the cats hanging around her cage, which I think might be her undoing one of these days.

Mildred, Pets do make life interesting and fun.I can tell they bless your life abundantly.

Amy,I seem to ask for trouble don't I ? I keep birds and poultry AND cats and bird dogs, then I have to house them to protect them and train the bird dogs NOT to eat my birds.....

Kenleigh Acres, the prey drive is pretty strong isn't it ?I'll be over later....

Noble Pig, Hawk is also the dog we take with us on our tours of Wineries and vineyards.

Jo, I will have to check out that video, and Hawk thanks you!

Shellmo, birds are fascinating, but I KNOW you are already convinced of that! Belle likes to drop bird seed on my head as I clean up under her cage...she also decides it is time to shriek when I am talking on the phone.....

Miss Sandy, sometimes birds, like dogs, are too smart for their own good. I think if Belle was a bird of foul language she would need another home too.

Sandra, Hawk would love your love...he is a very good natured dog who gets along with everyone but the poultry....he thinks they are for eating.
