More Spotted Lambs! ( Jacob Sheep )

~This little guy was born yesterday . Isn't he cute? He looks like a little bandit.~
~Here he is with his mother, Bide-A-Wee Buttercup.
~This is what was going on in the sheep shelter this morning, another lamb!" Jacob ewes will generally deliver lambs unassisted - and in secret if they have their way..." JACOB SHEEP IN AMERICA by Ingrid Painter
~Cedar Pond's Leah, with 4 horns, is her mother.~
~After lambing and cleaning, it is time for a bit of warm milk!~
~I get so excited about lambs. With Jacob Sheep you never know what the spot design will be, or how many horns the little lamb will have. Jacob sheep have from 2 to 6 horns, males AND females. ~" The Jacob is a dainty breed, having skinny legs, small frames, tiny ears and very small, rock hard hooves that are black or black and white striped. Possibly the largest and most outstanding feature on a Jacob ram are his horns. There can be any number but an even spread is by far the prettiest and most esthetically pleasing. The horns can be black, or black and white striped and are fairly smooth. 4. Thankful Paul, I was completely gobsmacked by your blog, and yes, I DO believe in miracles....

Mildred, aren't lambs truly among some of the cutest baby animals He created ?

Candy, you NEED sheep. If you raise sheep, use their wool for spinning, then you weave your handspun yarn and voila! a life time of heart singing works of love!Oh, the true joys my sheep and what they produce have blessed me with! Even their manure fertilizes our gardens and increases our productivity...

  5. awwww just makes me all cozy inside - this whole birthing thing really excites me. Mine are done now (I think!) and now I get to enjoy your beautiful spotted babies. I love your evangelical reply about keeping sheep - that is how I got into the goat thing (friend who says goats are her addiction!)

  10. I think this is the most exciting time of the year for a breeder, when the babies come. They are adorable and Jacobs are so strong for newborn animals. Mine will start in a week or less now and I can't wait. Keep us posted on any new arrivals please...

  15. Thank-you all, I think I have only 3 ewes left to lamb, but then again, I had some big yearling ewes this year and they may lamb later on in the spring. Kathleen, they do look and feel like stuffed animals, and with their little ears, tiny perfect feet and button noses....so cute!
