Rest and Be Thankful.....

" Return to your rest, oh my soul, for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you. For Thou hast rescued my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling." Psalm 116:7,8 "Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms, For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods....." Psalms 95:2,3 "Come to Me all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My load is light." Matthew 11:28-30

  1. Rest is severely underrated! We tend to go and go and go and then wonder at our exhaustion. Vince Lombardi said, "fatigue makes cowards of us all" and it's true. When I'm tired the world is against me and when I'm rested I can take on the world -smile-.
And at all times, when I'm rested in the Word, I always do better.

  2. Rest is definitely underrated - DH prefers to keep going until the job is done rather than stop when one is tired. BUT we do get a lot of jobs done. Love the verses you reminded us of - and as always the pictures of your beautiful family.

  3. Two lovely pictures Kathy. Hubby and granddaughter look so content and your spot on the porch looks like the perfect place to read the Bible; did you make the pretty rug in that picture?
These are such comforting verses this morning. Thank you and I hope you have a restful weekend.

  4. Such a beautiful reminder. I try to live with "notice," weariness in itself is something to be aware of. Lift it up and hand it over!

    I love your rug, Kathy.

And the photo of your husband grand-daughter, perfect.

  6. Thistle Cove, YES!!! I too am similar in this regard.

LindaSue, i tend to be more like your DH, I will go and go and then after a week or so of this, I crash! But I seem to never learn because here I am, over the half century in age and still the same.

Thank-you Mildred, the porch is often where I sit and spin, hook rugs, read...think. I used the picture of Jim and granddaughter because they were resting and enjoying just being together and it shows.

    Amy, thank-you.

Mary, yes. Weariness, just overtakes , overwhelms and defeats if not cured by rest, real rest...it has affected my health badly too ( weariness and lack of rest)

Star, thank-you for popping by...I wish I was disciplined enough to set aside a time for rest...

  8. What a wonderful reminder for the Spring season. It is all too tempting to work until it is done -rest and reflection are good for the soul.
    The pic is beautiful.

  9. noble pig, I have been thinking more and more that my ambition and goals have far out distanced my energy...if only I could go without sleep!

English Cottage in Georgia,it IS tempting to work and work and work to finish the gardening and then begin again inside the home, only to work myself into unrest and bad health, and you know, weeds will ALWAYS be with us! So a day or two of rest and actually enjoying the gifts God has given us really do us more good than a perfectly weeded garden and dusted home....

  10. Rest is necessary to replenish us, but I do need a reminder of that. Never seems to be enough hours in the day for me. :)
