In June 2016 we sold Cedar Pond and moved over the mountains and far away. We now live in Deer Park , WA where the weather is a bit more extreme than Cedar Pond's and in spite of the challenges we're rejoicing in life in our new home with field and forest just outside our back door. God is so good to us !
A kind word lifts my heart,a humorous word makes the day lighter,a word of wisdom gives me perspective,thank-you for your comments. I am truly honored you have read my blog and taken time to leave a few words about it. I read all the comments, and often answer them here in the comments page.~ Thank-you ! What cute pictures and I learned a lot today Kathy. Your doves are just beautiful. Blessings to you and your family this weekend.
ReplyDeleteAwwww! *squeal* I just love the baby turkeys!! Your little Silkie is so pretty, Kathy... what's her name? I don't have a white one. (Yet!)
ReplyDeleteThat is so interesting about the doves... I never knew!
fascinating -your silkies are way better than heating/turning machines to hatch eggs! Lovely creatures and as always you tell us about them in a loving way -
ReplyDeleteThank-you Mildred, and to you and Nalley too!
ReplyDeleteFarm Chick Paula, I just call her Silkie. I had a Silkie a few years ago that raised a turkey she hatched out. It was comical to see her try to cover and protect a baby that was twice as big as her!
Linda Sue, yup! Silkie hens are the best incubators, and mama hens!
It's a good thing turkeys are cute when they are little! If they were cute when they were grown we might not wanna chop off their heads and eat 'em for Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteAnd those three little guys from under your Silkie have blended in nicely with the little fellows from our Broody Boxy! Hopefully soon we will have a batch of birds more likely to set,(show girls) we can't seem to get any of our chickens to stick with the program even the one that we borrowed from you. Maybe it is because of me running around the farm all day hollering "get up and get to work" maybe they think I don't think that they are working. setting there.
ReplyDeleteAnna says she can tell it is the male on the nest because he doesn't allow her to pick up the baby, but I'm not so sure!
Turkeys sure are cute when they are that young. They sure do change quickly!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting about the doves, and how you can sex them, Kathy.
I received a special package from the state of Washington today. The wonderful Nativity Sheep. I was so excited to have received a package and as soon as I saw it I knew it was from you. Everything beamed of you, Kathy...from the photos on the outside of the box, to the artful card that you hand-made, and .... I am going to stop here because this talk is reserved for a special post on my blog.
Mr. Rooster woke me up too early this morning, the imaginary one (you heard him too). I am not thinking clearly, nor writing clearly this evening.
I made 2 batches of lotion in the shop and said, "Whoops...that's it." We had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for dinner. And now the hubby and I are happy and satisfied.
Blessings!
Those are great pics. You lead such an interesting life with all you have learned about nature and God's handiwork.
ReplyDeletelanny, all your little turkeys are so cute right now. A male turkey is sitting on the eggs? Interesting!
ReplyDeleteMary, you package arrived quickly! I am so glad you like the little sheep.Thank-you for the very kind words. I know what you mean about being so busy that dinner is almost forgotten, and sometimes a good PBJ sandwich just hits the spot!
Karen, thank-you. With so many animals things are definitely interesting or varies around here.
I so agree.....animals are amazing in how God created them. So many things they can do to protect themselves and their instint to raise and protect their family is always awesome to me. Loved your little turkeys! blessings,Kathleen
ReplyDeleteCute ducklings!
ReplyDeleteThey are all amazing, Kathy. I liked seeing the baby turkeys. I don't think I've ever seen those before.
