The first lambs of 2016 were born yesterday.
Twins ! Bide-a-wee Buttercup gave birth to twin lambs, a boy (ram) and a girl (ewe). Buttercup is 11 years old. The lambs' sire is Cedar Pond's Goth, also 11 years old.
Have I mentioned before how much I love this time of the year ? Lambing time ?
Now there are only eight ladies waiting and just look at this bunch of plump ladies. I suspect there is at least one more set of twins to be born any day now. Sassafras is also 11 years old ,she is the ewe in the foreground and spent breeding season with Buttercup and Goth. Sassafras may very well be the next ewe to have lambs Oh I am sooooooooo excited !
That is exciting. I remember seeing calves born, but Papa never had sheep. I was amazed to see the calf wobble and then frolic after such a short time.
ReplyDeleteThey are so sweet. Best of luck to them all. Deb
ReplyDeleteA silly smile is plastered on my face looking at the little newbies and the expectant Mom's. I feel your joy and excitement loud and clear.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy ~ FlowerLady

ReplyDeleteThose little lambs are the sweetest, cutest little babies I've ever seen. I wish I lived close enough to rush over and give them some cuddling! Can't wait to see them all.
ReplyDelete"Eight ladies waiting?" Really? Eight more about to give birth? Wow! That sure increases the herd exponentially! Especially if they all have twins or triplets (which probably won't happen - but could?) Can't wait to see more pics!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness - aren't they just the cutest things! Congratulations! xx Karen
ReplyDeleteOh, my, I didn't know lamb season had begun. It's raining so much lately here that I haven't been wandering in the countryside a lot. But I love when I can see the first lambs. Your twin lambs are adorable with all their spots.
