MUD PUDDLE !
Two other children who had come to celebrate camped overnight in the field and bright and early the next morning 3 little mud buddies were busy in the mud. This little girl was very industrious as she walked back and forth from the swimming pool , filling her water can and emptying it into the growing mud puddle.
More water, more mud.
Even more water. This is taking a long time.Let's get...
... the hose ! ( By the way, did you notice all 3 of these children are wearing their pajamas? What's better than a squishy big mud puddle on a sunny morning to start the day?)
The mud buddies added toy cars, helicopters, farm animals, fencing,
and Little 'J' even threw in a house. So much fun in the mud.
The mud pond was beginning to turn into a mud river when some fussy grown-up found out about the hose and turned it off.
But there was still plenty of mud, and mud buddies to play with. Fun in the mud!
I remember mud. I grew up with my nephews and they insisted we play cars in the mud or they would not play house with me. We spent hours making bridges to drive over the mud with our little cars and trucks. Then, they had to play house. Now, that looks awfully muddy and I can't imagine standing in it. It's so funny to see them in their jammies. That little J is getting soooooo big! :D

Reminds me of the many mud pies I made as a kid! Such cute photos. Wishing your daughter/family many blessings in their new home. Have a nice day, Kathy.
ReplyDeleteI am most impressed that the grown-ups let the little ones play with mud in their pajamas--especially the one with footies. Sorry to say, I was never that kind of parent. Happy to say, I am that kind of grandma! We live and we learn. Applause for the adult who snapped the pictures and didn't interfere.
ReplyDeleteIf a picture is worth a thousand words, the look on little J's face says it all.
Mud Buddies. What an excellent idea and title for a children's picture book dedicated to little J himself.
Thank you for sharing this, Kathy. I'll be smiling the rest of the day.
Now THAT looks fun!
ReplyDeleteThese pictures made me giggle the whole time, Kathy! I remember the mess... *I mean* mud puddles we used to make as kids... it's a wonder we didn't get in trouble for all the holes we dug in the yard! *haha*

ReplyDeleteoops - Kathy, I was not signed into my own account when I posted a comment - I did it under the account B Suess and he just let me know that he was getting comments on his smartphone. Dear me...if you could delete the bogus comment I'd appreciate it (While remembering the real me, somehow? GretchenJoanna? - what a silly)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, what sweet memories playing in the mud and digging holes...
ReplyDeleteI love the fact that the children were in the pj's.... that's extra special sweet.
Making those precious memories is so important. You all are doing such a good job!!
Hugs,
How precious! It is always wonderful to see young children plaing like this.......without the help of a TV or video game! Just so cute!
ReplyDeleteThey did have fun and you should have taken a photo after they were done!!! Covered in mud those two were!! Then soooooo tired and Little J crashed on Daddy's lap with mud still in his hair. I got those pj's hosed off and into the wash - they came out mostly clean!
ReplyDeleteTotally cute! Those are some budding engineers in the making.
ReplyDeleteDebbie,it was awfully muddy! The 2 little boys were hanging onto each other because they kept slipping ion the mud.And you're right, Little 'J' is growing up so quickly.
ReplyDeleteMaple Lane, thank-you. Mud was fun to play in when I was little too, but now, I avoid it. Our daughter & her family's new home is perfect for them.
Nib's End,I had so much fun snapping pictures, and as the Grandma, did not feel at all obliged to stop them. What fun being a Grandma is, right?
Linda Sue, they DID have fun
Paula, I think the holes and the river they were creating were more of a problem than the children getting muddy. They had so much fun though, and I think they'll remember this for a long time.
Gretchen, I removed it,and thank-you for your comment!
ReplyDeleteDolores, it was so much fun watching the children , early in the morning, busily working in the mud and having so much fun!Maybe we as adults should take more time to play in our jammies too. ( I did today )
Eggs In My Pocket, t.v. simply cannot compete, can it? Mud, chickens, running and building club houses, fairy houses...there is so much in life to do. Nope, You're right, no t.v. does not mean no playing!
A.Joy, they played a long time, and had so much fun. Glad I was not doing the laundry, but really, what a small price to pay for such child-hood delight. Love your little 'J'.
Sandra, Little 'J' wants to operate BIG work trucks, so mud will be in his future for sure!
