The Waiting Game

Inga stands on a pile of snow that slid off the barn roof blocking the entrance to the stalls, looking out on a snowy day. Inga is due to lamb any time now, as are 14 other ewes.
Jonas is the sire of my 2017 lambs. He stands out in the weather wearing a thick white blanket of snow over his warm wool coat.
My husband holding a newborn ram lamb. We're just waiting for a dozen or more, enjoying the lamb season's waiting game.

  3. Sweet photos Kathy. In the last one the waiting mother looks like she is posing just for you.

I love the photo of your husband with the new lamb.

May all of the birthings go smoothly, and may they all not happen at once. :-)

  4. How adorable! If I were fortunate enough to have a farm I would want Jacob sheep. I once found an article in an old Progressive Farmer magazine on Jacob Sheep. I kept the article for years, dreaming. My husband says, you should have married a farmer! :) The baby lambs in your last post are simply precious. I love the twins.

  7. I really enjoyed seeing this post. I miss having a little farm going on...I will again someday, but for now, I had to give it up. I guess I can live vicariously through others' blogs, ha, ha. Have a great week!

  9. Love the pics! I'm showing my ignorance, but do all Jacob rams have horns like Jonas? When I was in college (taking Animal Science) we helped with the birth of twin lambs. They handed one to me to hold and dry off... it's a moment I haven't forgotten... so sweet.

  11. Hello there Kathy. Yes, you are playing the waiting game and so am I. You are waiting for lambs and I am waiting for a new grand baby girl. Her daddy is out of town on a business trip this week, and I am here to keep my daughter company and lend a hand with the 4 and the 2 year olds. We are 6 weeks away from due date but she has delivered early both times before. I'm hoping she waits till my son-in-law returns or the co-grandmother and I will have to step in for a longer time. I'm having a very good time with the grands but there is a lot to do. I'll think of you as we both play the waiting game in our respective homes. Best of luck with all your little ones and their mommies!

  16. It must be such an exciting time as the lambs are born. Each week as I head out to the Head to work I watch for the new lambs and have seen a few already. Soon the fields will be full of them.
