Immanuel~

"I could not decide between these two versions of 'Oh Come, Oh Come Immanuel' so decided to post both. I hope this blesses you today as we look forward to Christmas, a time many all over the world celebrate the birth of Christ who was and is the promised Messiah, "Wonderful Counselor,Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace" Is. 9 :6 ,Savior, the Son of God, Immanuel!
"Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign ; Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel." Isaiah 7:14 "Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bear a Son, and they shall call Him Immanuel, which translated means, "God with us." Matthew 1:23

  2. Oh, thank you, Kathy!

My husband and I were on the road yesterday in southern Ohio. It warmed my heart to see the beautiful signs in many yards depicting the real meaning of Christmas.

  3. Lovely song, Kathy. I like them both, but I think I prefer the second one. The music of the first video is very haunting though. Wishing you a peaceful Sunday.

  8. I love that song and I love both of those versions. My favorite, however, is when a friend of ours stood up in church-on Christmas Eve-and sang it a cappella. I wish I had it recorded. I can still hear it in my mind though.

  11. Thank-you for your kind comments..I was thinking about what each of you said about the hymn and as I watched many times the youTube videos I realized what I like about each rendition is the difference. And they are very different, yet the same hymn.

Enya's is ethereal, and hauntingly beautiful, bringing to my mind a higher and more heavenly thought of our Savior. The 2nd video reminds me of the very earthly cost to Jesus, to redeem us...that of sin, blood, pain, death...the death of the Son of God to redeem us from this world of sin and sorrow. Immanuel is triumphant in His love for us, praise Him!
