We Interrupt Turkey In A Teacup Thursday...

We interrupt Turkey In A Teacup Thursday because we caught a mole! Our granddaughter poses with the mole next to a big mound and hole in the ground caused by the little one and it's many relatives. This is the mole super highway, underground of course.
Granddaughter had never seen a mole up close before and was excited because I was excited my husband trapped one of the legion of little critters causing so much destruction and havoc to our lawns, gardens, sheep pens, chicken pens, driveway, pond....when she actually saw the little creature she was sad and said "It is so cute, it's dead? This is sad~". I do not have the words to express my mixed feelings about these little critters, except to say they cannot be allowed to flourish as usual around here. The damage they have done is extreme. Now if they just stay to the woods and by-ways they would be left alone. But no, they have super hi-ways and by-ways around and under our home. Sheep crippling tunnels and mounds , garden destroying cave-ins, need I go on? ( but they are kind of cute)
Miss Vickie *, one more for our count on underground varmints . Here's hoping you are adding to your count.Let the competition be fierce!
The turkeys were very happy to not have to pose in a tea-cup this week. They will be back next Thursday, whether they like it or not.

I know what a time you have had with these moles ruining your yard. It's amazing the damage they can do.
Your turkeys have really grown.
Wishing you and your visiting granddaughter a very pleasant day.

I don't blame you for wanting to rid your yard of those moles. They cause so much trouble. Wow! It's hard to believe those are the same turkeys! They've grown so fast.

I think you are going to need a bigger teacup next week Kathy.

It's cute *because* it's dead! IMHO, of course.

Yes, I'm sure they are cute, but so are mice. They're so destructive though. If all the caterpillars have eaten the leaves off the plants in the yard instead of the garden I wouldn't have had to kill them. It's just a fact of life-like the copperhead snake Mike had to kill yesterday.

Thank you for visiting my blog and for sharing the story of your own battles with fertility issues. Yes, God is good...He gives peace when you cannot imagine how peace is possible. I guess that's why it's called the peace that passes understanding....because it doesn't make sense.

Anyhow...it really is amazing, isn't it, how such little creatures can do SO much damage. (I think there's a spiritual lesson in that, isn't there?)

Anyhow, have a lovely day with your granddaughter.

Hugs,
Patti

Hi Kathy!
May you have a great week!
I think your dove with dove header is so neat. Sweet.

Moles can cause so much damage for sure.

I finally told my Granddaughter that mice have a place in this world...just not in my house! She seems to understand this.

God bless,
d

Too bad little mole...another one bites the dust! Sad they can't stay out of yards. The turkeys are still cute, I thought they'd be all gangaly by now but they are still cute! Come say hi :D

I can understand how she would question the need to kill them. I wish there was another way to deal with the destructive/dirty creatures that live among us, but there isn't. I still feel a twinge of sadness when I trap mice but then I am glad that they are gone. The turkeys are just plain cute!

Hi Kathy - the gophers have not surfaced at our place yet. I expect after the rain we got last week, that they'll be popping their little bucktoothed faces up to have a look-see. The moles have been burrowing all around the yard and garden. My dad got these two newfangled traps for moles and is having great success with them. I'm out to buy a couple of them myself! I think you're ahead of me, now, but never fear - gopher-woman is here!!!

Your granddaughter is so pretty, but I can't say the same for the 'thing' she's holding. Gross!

Mildred , you are so right about the moles. Turkeys, like children, grow way too fast. But these turkeys are fun and seem to be such calm birds. Thank-you, we are having fun with our granddaughter.

Daisy,a poem about moles, please!

Susie,I think you're right. Can't seem to think of where I would get a bigger tea cup, or where I would store it either. ( does Disneyland have any extra teacups from their rides?)

Sandra, I agree with you.I did read these comments to our granddaughter and she laughed!

Southern Comfort,a copperhead?I hope you blog about it!

Patti ( A Hopeful Heart) Thank-you. And yes, those little moles cause enormous destruction. I too can think of many spiritual lessons regarding them.

Deanna, I like what you said about mice, I told my granddaughter I would use that same philosophy regarding moles!

Julie, funny you should use that term " another one bites the dust" because that song is exactly what went through my head as soon as I pulled the trap out with the mole in it!

Leslie, we think alike here!

Vickie ( gopher woman) I think the excessive rain and waterlogged soil has caused the moles to surface around here too. This mole was small enough i am sure there are more of them. Babies growing up and seeking their blind way into the world.Tell me how the new-fangled traps work, inquiring minds want to know.

Dolores, thanks. I don't think the mole would agree but the worms and we people around here do!

I'm glad we don't have a mole problem since our cats catch them! The turkeys are getting big.

Oh, my....I was just looking at those traps at the local co-op, they had a video demo. I better get some because it's been Mole City around here, too!

I have 2 turkeys the same color and size.

That was a great interruption to programming.

I cannot imagine how much destruction one small mole can do. I wonder why they have been a problem in so many areas this season. They seem to be causing problems here as well.

Looking forward to the next edition of turkey teacup.

The girls and I skined our first mole of the season this week. That mole skin cap's a-comin'!

So glad I do not have moles! The children came for a closer look, I did not tell them the fate of the mole. The turkeys saved the day. lol

Amy, ( goatpod)I am glad you don't have a mole problem too. They are bad news for a place!

Carol, I think "mole city" could pretty well sum up Western Washington, especially the golf courses! (and my place)

Mary, I am wondering how the moles are faring so well given our waterlogged grounds and soil. Seems to cause major mole population increases, and headaches for my husband.

Mrs. Mike, that I have to see!

Lady Katherine, that is why I refer to the turkeys as my "comic relief"!
