In June 2016 we sold Cedar Pond and moved over the mountains and far away. We now live in Deer Park , WA where the weather is a bit more extreme than Cedar Pond's and in spite of the challenges we're rejoicing in life in our new home with field and forest just outside our back door. God is so good to us !

Dewdrop Delights
"Gamma, what's dis?" Little 'J' was fascinated and excited by the dew drops in the Lady's Mantle we have growing all over our property. I told him they were dew-drops. "Shrewshrops?" Although he did not master the pronunciation of the word, his excitement and delight over dew-drops did not cease. He carefully emptied each little dew-filled leaf he encountered. We have a lot of Lady's Mantle around here, so Little 'J' had a very good time. "Earth's liquid jewelry, wrought of air." Philip James Bailey on dewdrops
"The leaves of Lady's Mantle are like shallow pleated cups. The soft hairs make water form droplets that roll around on the leaves." About.com ~ I have always thought the dew-drops in Lady's Mantle look like diamonds when the sun shines on them. In the morning there are tiny dew-drops all around the edges of the leaves, making the whole leaf appear sparkly and jeweled.
"Lady's Mantle ( named for the Virgin Mary ) is an old-fashioned flower still popular today for it's fuzzy, cupped leaves that hold water droplets after a rain." About.com ~ Little'J's delight over something so simple, yet amazingly beautiful ,makes me happy to be part of his life and also reminded me of the simple joys we forget to appreciate as we get older.Raindrops, dew-drops, miracles of God's creation. ~"The dew-bead. Gem of earth and sky begotten." ~George Eliot

How adorable! I love this aspect of lady's mantle (and nasturtiums & lotus). It makes them completely magical. :)
What a privilege it is to be part of the lives of our grandchildren. These moments in your garden, at your tea table, or just chatting with you will make up a big part of the fabric of their lives forever.
What a sweetie! It is so nice how you both enjoyed the beauty of nature that day.
Have a wonderful weekend, and God bless!
Kathy M.
Thanks for your visit. This is very sweet, nothing like being with and talking with the little ones who are just getting so talkative..love that! :D
The wonderful blessings that God has given us..... precious grandchildren and nature.......can't get any better than that!
I love reading about the different plants that grow in our big world.... I'm not familiar with Lady's Mantle, but it sure is pretty, and I love that it collects the dew.
Your post are always a blessing!
Hugs,
Good quotes, verse, and pictures!
Blessings,
Amy
Hi Kathy, Little J is certainly growing! Many years ago, I grew Lady's Mantle and loved to walk through the garden early in the morning and see the sun shining on the droplets of water on the leaves. Precious times shared with your grandson - priceless!
Isn't it amazing how kids will often notice things like this that we walk past every day without seeing them or appreciating them. Children give us back much of the wonder we sometimes lose as we get older.
Hi Kathy, wonderful photos and loved the Bible verses; so appropriate! Hope you're settling in after your visit with the other grands. What a gift to travel, what a blessing to be home.
When you share the experiences with and of your grandchildren - it gives those of us without children a special treat - what joy on Little J's face - and thank you for the eyes to see it all - I like wearing a Kathy lens
he's such a cutie!
it is really sweet when the little ones are so excited about everything. love this!
God bless,
d
I will definately get some Lady's Mantle for my garden aft reading your post. I did not know that it was named after the Virgin Mary. that cemented it... I am gonna get some today.... Hugs Lady Jane
I loved your post today, Kathy. Isn't it fun to slow down and look at God's creation through the eyes of little ones!
