Tiny Teacup ~ Blue Willow

I found this tiny teacup at an antique store yesterday, and the price was $5.00. I had $5.00 in my purse and decided I would be sorry if I left the store and did not take this little teacup with me. Blue Willow is one of my favorite patterns, and this particular blue is one of my favorite colors. Have you noticed how many different shades of blue there can be in Blue Willow dishes , depending on who makes them, and where & when they were made? To show how tiny this is I placed it next to my favorite tea/coffee cup, another Blue Willow cup & saucer I bought in an antique store years ago.See the difference in the color of the two ?
The tiny teacup fits inside the standard cup.
"Maruta, Made in Occupied Japan "
Today, after I am done with my chores, I am going to sip some tea from this cup and ponder something that has been on my mind, the need to PRACTICE kindness. This summer it finally penetrated my thick skull that good and noble things, be they art, writing, stitchery, music, sports, keeping a home, cooking & baking, (the list goes on) all get better with practice. Why not good character qualities too ? "Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see. " Mark Twain ~ " Kindness is in our power , even when fondness is not." Samuel Johnson ~ When I was young I admired clever people. Now that I am old, I admire kind people." Abraham Lincoln
I am joining these ladies of the teacup this Tuesday for a celebration of all things tea, come along, you're invited too .~

Beautiful little tea cup! The blue and white pattern is gorgeous, and I am sure you got a bargain for $5! Enjoy your new little treasure while you sip and think about practicing kindness (I will think of it too!).

I have a set of Willow dishes that the previous owner of this old home left for me as a gift. They are displayed on a plate rail high up around the formal dining room. You piqued my curiosity about the set and I took the serving platter down to examine it. The stamp on the back say 'Seaforth ENDCH1764 RALPH1750 WOODS BURSLEM ENGLAND. I don't know what that means. There are no cups, but there are 4 scalloped plates, 4 saucers and the server. They are quite pretty! I forget about them but they really would be nice to use. They are quite dusty;I think I'll wash them. :D

I love Blue Willow, I have a set, but only with coffee mugs. Long ago, when I was young I sold my set which had the tea cups, how I long for them! Lucky you!!! Wish I could get out and find some. Miss visiting! I have a lot on my plate. The store/cafe open I here dawn to dark well, after 9pm. Not much time. My heath is failing fast, a lot going on there. Many decisions to make but it always makes me smile to visit you. I miss being able to!!!!

Hi Kathy,

Great job on scoring that petite beauty. It is so dainty and perfect. I hope that your first sip was delightful.

Practicing kindness. Consciously. That certainly is a good idea. I do pretty good with kindness and encouragement with those I like, but could use some work on that for those I do not like. I'll keep it in mind though and see if I can make time for practice. :>)

Hope your week is sweet.

Dear Kathy! How delightful to meet you and have the privilege of calling you a Writer's Reverie follower! I am glad to add you to my reading list - my visit with you has already been inspiring and comforting. Cedar Pond seems like a place I would love to live, myself. A joyful retreat where simplicity and Creation minister the joy and love of the Lord in all good things and beauty.

Love sheep and bees - and spinning! Though I have no sheep and spin not, I do own an antique spinning wheel that I plan to write about eventually - the story of God speaking and blessing me long ago. My friend keeps bees and I joy in her honey and beekeeping adventures.

I hope to gain more insight into your world of sheep, wool, and bees that will bless and inspire.

As to your sweet willow cup - love it - and how comical to place it INTO the larger one. Like a mother and baby. A favorite of mine, too, that I collect on occasion.

Joy to you!
Miss Kathy

Hi Kathy! I'm afraid I couldn't pass that little teacup up either! Perhaps it was made for a child? Should be perfect for one of your little grands!

Such a pretty little cup - yes about practicing kindness - it is a blessing we can freely bestow and the more we do - the more we feel like doing - sorta like chocolate.
