Where Does The Time Go & How Can I Get More ?

I am not sure how I am unable to do all the things I think I need to do.Maybe all the things I think I NEED to do are not really needed, or needful...I love making the felted wool balls out of the fleece of my sheep, and I especially love needle-felting designs of whatever strikes my fancy on them. But is this needful ?
I have been making doll clothes for our 6 granddaughters' American Girl Dolls for their ( granddaughters) birthdays, but is this needful? ( It is fun )
Ice storm damage clean-up is an on-going task, and we have had a lot of help from family...(2 grandchildren helping above)
...granddaughter...
...grandson...
...and friends. Yes, this is needful.Cleaning up after the storm will take at least all of this year, and needs to be done so we can plant our gardens and tend our animals well.
Tending my sheep and watching over them as they lamb is needful, without doubt.(Valkyrie with her new-born ram lamb)
Of course there are all the regular , every day, mundane, but very needful things like preparing meals, cleaning up after meals, washing up, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning the bathrooms, changing the bedsheets, feeding the animals, cleaning up after the animals. Then I need to spin, & weave the wool my sheep produce, goodness... so many demands on my time.It seems there is so little time, yet there has always been only 24 hours in a day, every day, and I don't think there will ever be any more hours added, so that does not change. I have so many more things I love to add to my days, blogging, gardening, talking to family & friends, playing with my dogs, sitting on the porch with my husband as we watch the birds & new lambs and discuss our thoughts.I am always amazed anyone can be bored when I and so many others I know cannot find the time to invest in all that interests them. Guess it is all a matter of perspective, and my perspective better get a bit smaller so I can fit it all in. This big, wide, beautiful, amazing world has too much to take in, but I want to take in as much as I can, and hopefully give a little bit back too.Anyone have any ideas on ways to add hours to the day?

The doll clothes are so cute, and with so many granddaughters, you must make doll clothes...a person could go broke buying the American doll clothes from their store.

Looks like fun working and playing together, and making memories.

Your sky pictures in the previous post are so beautiful!!!

I think the activities that bring you joy are also very needed. I don't know what the key is...maybe it is to feel satisfaction with what you do manage to get done during the day. I think you are very good at appreciating your day to day activities. It seems like you have lots of precious time with your family and friends. I understand also about the necessity of cleaning up after the ice storm. Glad you have lots of help!

I think we are given 24 hours and the work the Lord has for us - should take no more than that! Your handwork is beautiful and your level of work is impressive - I'm more slug than bizzy bee!
Your littlest grandboy is growing up so fast!
Thanks for sharing - I rarely blog now but love dropping by!

Not critical of your desire for more time - just defending my lack of desire for more work! LOL

I love the designs on the fleece balls. Your doll clothes for the granddaughters are so sweet; they will love these new outfits made with love by you!
So sorry about all the storm damage and I know the clean-up is massive. You certainly are blessed to have good helpers as family/friends.

All work and no play makes Kathy a very dull girl -smile-.
Needful things vs wanted things. All of us have a different idea of what's needed and what's wanted although, Maslow said "Food, Shelter, Clothing" are needs, all else are wants.
Then you have the Persian saying, if you have 3 coins, use 2 for food and 1 for hyacinths.
Maslow was smart, Persians smarter.
I think anyway.

I don't know how to do needle felting. Can you give a demonstration? Is it like knitting and then boiling what you have knitted?
You have lots to do and the ice storms don't help do they! You can't add on hours to the day, no, but you can allocate time as needed. Of course you know that. I do it by doing one hour spinning, one hour cooking, one hour cleaning etc. and get through the day that way.
Like you I am never bored.
Your grandchildren are lovely. Good idea to give them lots of jobs to do.

I have been feeling the same way lately. Just not enough time for all the things I need to do much less the things I want to do. Prioritize maybe? Heck, I don't know but like you I want more!

Well, Tom always tells me - if I don't have enough time to get stuff done ... sleep less. I suppose if I only slept 4 hrs per day instead of 9 or 10 then I'd have 20 hrs to do other things?? I also didn't take up any hobbies and rarely do stuff I want - just stuff that needs to be done - sometimes even blogging falls under the " just gotta get it done with" category and not the "something I WANT to do" category. Just my solution - not that I'll follow it. =) Great photos!

for me creativity is a need. so your felted balls and doll's clothes would definitely be on my needful list. creating relaxes me from the daily chores as do my daily nature walks now that it is getting warmer.

life is so infinitely interesting and as we get older we realize all the things we have yet to do or want to do so time becomes a big issue. i have taken a step away from blogging and will be posting only once a month so that i can DO more things.

we are going to guanajuato, mexico for 9 days at the end of april and possibly up the coast all the way through oregon and washington when we get back.

thank God you have a few helping hands to clear all the debris that the storms left behind. wish i could be there to be one of them.

just had to stop by to see what you and the beekeeper have been up to.

blessings,
constanza

I wish I knew how to add hours to the day too, Kathy. I also have trouble understanding when someone says they are bored. There is never enough time in the day for me to do all that I wish I could do.

You are by far one of the busiest people I know, but you always have time for tea and a visit too. You do good with the time you do have and prioritize things in the order you need to for each days abilities. Lovely felting, adorable doll clothes and much love! You are inspiring and encouraging and I am SO glad to know you. :)

Hi Kathy!
Sweet Spring Blessings to you!!!
Much to do and enjoy while doing the much to do.
Hugs and may you take a deep breathe and smell the roses while you're at it.
The doll clothing is darling. I still have Barbie Doll Clothing my Grandma made me when I was a little girl. She's been gone along time now, but I always think of her when I look at these clothes that my Granddaughters play with when I get the Barbies out.
Sending my love and best wishes,
d
