Marrying Day Dress

My wedding dress.
My oldest granddaughter modeled it for me. I had saved it for 39 years and thus far, I don't think anyone I had saved it for desired it, except as a souvenir of a special dress Mom wore. Our oldest granddaughter, not yet at an age where she is interested in boys but excited by dress-up expressed an interest in it.She modeled it for me and also allowed me to talk about my marrying day to her Grandpa, 39 years ago.Barefoot and wearing a pair of gloves a kind man and owner of an antique store gave her, she posed in front of the garden overflowing with the fireweed her grandpa treasures for his honeybees.
My marrying day dress, special to me because I wore it the day I gave myself to my beloved.I pray my grandchildren remember they are special to Him, and they give their love in marriage ( and only in marriage) to one who loves Him.A simple prayer and request for the grandchildren I love. Should God grant it, they will know a life full of blessings and true joy. "Let marriage be held in honor among all..."Hebrews 13:4

She is beautiful, Kathy! As is the precious dress you wore so many years ago. What a wonderful memory she will have of that day when she got to dress up in her grandma's wedding dress and hear the story of her true love...

The lace on your dress is just gorgeous! I hope that someday your granddaughter will get to wear it for her special day! When I was planning my wedding, I asked my Mom if I could wear her dress, but sadly it had yellowed in storage. :-(

I don't think I ever knew how you got your wedding dress? Did you pick it out and buy it and how much did it cost wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy back then? ;) Or did someone give it to you? I have the veil that you wore with it here in the hope chest along with my dress. My girls will probably be too short or bigger chested and won't fit mine either. I should let them try it on! :)

Oh - forgot to add - I think K looks like Dad when he was a boy in these photos. ( Dad was a pretty boy. :) )

Such a sweet and heartfelt post. I hope your granddaughter marries a good and loving man and that, if it fits and it's her dream, that she'll wear that dress. I wore my mother's gown and loved it!

So beautiful, Kathy (both your grand-daughter and your well-preserved wedding dress). Beutiful gifts from our Heavenly Father.

Kathy, can you do me a favor? I think I have resolved the issue at my blog with people not being able to leave comments. Can you try once again? Email me if you need anything.

God bless, Mary

This is a very sweet post!
Your Grand is lovely and your dress beautiful.

This August we will be celebrating our 38th anni and today I was looking at my wedding pictures.

Your dress is similar to mine! I remember when I went dress shopping and saw my dress....I knew it was the one I wanted!

God bless,
d

Aw, Kathy, this is sweet. Your granddaughter looks lovely in that dress. Wouldn't be awesome if one of the girls decided to wear this at their wedding! My dress was the first one I tried on. What a memorable day that was!

she looks exquisite in your dress. how did you manage to keep it in such pristine shape?

i will be posting about the pixie purses i made with your gifted yarns shortly. the second one turned out so beautiful and i sent it to my friend katia who lives in france filled with goodies for her to enjoy on her pixie walks. she lives in a beautiful forest and loves to garden like us.
