Days of extremely high temperatures have left me wilting . All my time seems to be spent watering the gardens and livestock, only to begin again. It's too hot to bake or can the fruit and veggies . We don't have air conditioning except in our bedroom... and tempting as this is, I cannot justify spending the summer days there.
Yesterday thunderstorms rolled in bringing with them abundant rain. Today is a very fine day for baking and gazing out the window, and I am loving it ! "For ground that drinks the rain which often falls upon it and brings forth vegetation useful to those for whose sake it is also tilled, receive a blessing from God." Hebrews 6 : 7
In June 2016 we sold Cedar Pond and moved over the mountains and far away. We now live in Deer Park , WA where the weather is a bit more extreme than Cedar Pond's and in spite of the challenges we're rejoicing in life in our new home with field and forest just outside our back door. God is so good to us !

We got it too! Isn't it wonderful? It is still raining up here, gently now. We didn't get the thunder and lightening and for that I'm grateful too!
That is such a beautiful photo, Kathy. Cat-in-windows....love it. We have had lots of rain and today finally we have some sun. No baking for me, though. I'm heading out for a walk. :) Deb
We need rain here South of Houston Texas...and as much as it threatens to, it doesn't. It would be nice just enough to water the living, and bring a rainbow.
Baking sounds wonderful. Your photo has a warm and cozy feel. Very nice.
Thank you for visiting today.
Blessings,
Marianne
Yes, the rain and cooler temps have been a nice relief. Too bad I didn't get around to baking!
I love this photo. I enjoy a rainy day and baking some days. We had an unusually cooler day today and enjoyed a stroll around the Lake.
Kathy, is that Crocosmia/Montbretia outside the window? the bright orange?
Pleasant to stop by today and read your post and see a lovely picture. Days where we can enjoy looking out the window are favorites,

In the words of Gerard Manley Hopkins: "Mine, O thou lord of life, send my roots rain..." and deliver me from the defile of drought and parched passion.
Glad you got some rain to cool things down a bit and water your gardens.
My cottage is small and I have one window unit that cools down the whole place. Of course, I'm only talking about around 700 sq. ft. :-)
Have a great weekend ~ FlowerLady
I really like how cats respond to the world. A large window seems to be their realm as they watch the world safe and sound.
Blessed rain and blessed relief. Beautiful photo, Kathy!
We have got lots and lots of rain here, to the point of major flooding. But I am loving the cooler temps. Love the picture of your kitty, and glad you got a break from so much watering!
It was nice to have things cooled down for a couple of days this past week. We had storms for 4 or 5 days. A tree on our work property was hit by lightening but was thankfully spotted in time before the fire spread.
I enjoy your pictures of the dog, girls and chicks! I am so happy for you guys about the new baby news.
I am back to blogging! Friday was my last day of work.
Hugs,
Kathy M.
Even in our hot dry area, we got a wonderful rain the other day! We are always grateful! Have a great week!
We are having cool weather right now and have had more rain this summer than I have ever seen. With fall right around the corner it has been a short summer thus far.
We arrived to Washington on August 15th and stayed until the 22nd of August and it was lovely while we were there! We arrived back home late Friday evening, we drove out there, my brother flew to Denver from Michigan to help with the driving.
Catching up on blogs that I missed while being on vacation.
