Our Last Days at Cedar Pond ?

The sale of Cedar Pond is pending. We had two offers to buy Cedar Pond right after the open house, the first day it was shown.
I see I haven't blogged since April 10th, but we've been busy packing, sorting, cleaning, moving things to our future home and depositing other items at the local dump and Goodwill.
I am still tending my gardens and sometimes have to distract myself so I don't cry. That is really the reason I haven't blogged lately. Every time I begin to post pictures or write on my blog , so many emotions flood my heart and mind that I opt for a snack to munch while watching t.v. or reading a book, or catching up with friends and family on Facebook. Quick distractions.
Of course, having kept chickens for many years now I have learned not to count my chickens until they hatch and I know Cedar Pond is not truly sold until all the paperwork is signed and official. But it does appear another family with young children will be loving life here at Cedar Pond soon.
We had a big work party in April when most of our family came together to help prepare Cedar Pond for sale and also help load a lot of heavy stuff into a rental truck. We drove 6 hours , over the mountains and far away, to our future home. We unloaded the truck , storing our belongings in the barn there. We still have at least 2 more truck loads of stuff to move  ( how did we accumulate so much STUFF ? ) not including my sheep, my geese, and my chickens.
I hope you don't get the wrong idea about my feelings though. I am prone to nostalgia and "what-if's", but not sorry to be moving . We built Cedar Pond from raw land almost 30 years ago. We raised our children here and enjoyed life here . I knew this was the right decision for many reasons, but I also knew I was ready to move for sure when the last few trips to our future home I did not want to return to Cedar Pond because I was home . My home over the mountains and far away !

Leaving your home where you have lived for so long ISN'T easy, but I know you will enjoy your new home! I pray that the sale goes thru and you can get started on making memories to last the rest of your days! HUGS!

It was so good to see a post from you today. You've been very busy, with lots of mixed emotions thrown into the mix.

What wonderful memories you have of Cedar Pond. I am thankful that you have peace about moving. I am excited for you as you start a new adventure.
You were one of the first people who visited my blog many years ago. Thanks for being a friend and encourager.

Yes, not easy at all! I've done it and I know what it feels like, but in my case, I came back! It is one of those moments in life that we all have to face - moving on and it's as much a mind thing as a physical one, isn't it. I hope you will be very happy in your new home and I look forward to hearing all about your new surroundings.

I am sure you'll make new memories at your new home now. We sure have made some memories from the 18 years we have lived at the place we're at now.

Blessings,

Amy

It's so good to hear from you. I was just where you are nearly two years ago, but not a day has gone by since we made the move from Pondside House that I don't give thanks for having done so. I miss the old place, and haven't been able to drive past it yet, but that doesn't mean I haven't embraced the new - as you have definitely done. Good luck with the sale! I look forward to many posts from your new home over the mountains.

Good to see what's up at Cedar Pond and how the move to beyond is going. It's always bittersweet. Some sadness but mixed with excitement of the new adventure. How nice that you got offers so quickly. I do hope they go all the way to signing the papers.

It's a beautiful home, Kathy, and I'm sure the new owners will love it as much as you did. It is a bittersweet feeling to move from one place to another even when you know it's the right thing to do. Good luck that the sale goes through quickly and your move to your new home goes smoothly.

All the best and God Bless! Yes, moving is a new adventure. You have made many memories and done a great deal of living at your place. Moving will mean more adventures and hopefully you'll share your new location and life events. Hugs,

You were my very first blog friend and prayer warrior. I came to love Cedar Pond thru your blog, too, but I know I will love your new home also and look forward to reading all about it. I understand that even though you have peace about the move, that you are emotional about leaving a place which has meant so much to your family. I felt that way about Nalley Valley and still miss it (or the way it was when mother was alive). May the Lord richly bless you. With love, Mildred

The one good thing about blogging is that you will be able to look back over your old posts and relive the fond memories of Cedar Pond.
If you're loving the new place already, that will help with the transition and I look forward to seeing the home over the mountains - you must give us a tour.
Have a good weekend.

I have missed your posts and wondered how you were getting on and at 'what stage' you'd reached in your move. So much to do and so much to relect upon. So many memories. I think I'm imagining myself doing this too before too long. We know we're going but not sure where yet. God will reveal that in time.
I am eager to see your new home as you get settled and have time to post. I am not surprised that you sold so quickly, as I would have been camped on your doorstep to get such a lovely home. I'm so thankful this is a happy move for you.

I'm not at all surprised that Cedar Pond would sell quickly. It looks like such a lovely spot. And I can imagine it would be hard to leave... but the new place will be a new adventure and as I see it, as we age there aren't a lot of new adventures out there. Be sure to share the adventure with us!

Oh, such a bittersweet time for you, Kathy! I can't imagine all the thoughts and feelings you must be having. It would be wonderful to give it over to a new young family to enjoy as much as you have. Now you have something wonderful to look forward to - new vistas.....I hope the move goes smoothly for you! Wishing you blessings on your new journey. xx Karen

WONDERFUL NEWS!! Yes, bittersweet but 'this world is not our home, we're just a'passing through' and, in the meantime, a place closer to family is grand! God speed on your move, praise God for bringing you buyer(s)!!!!!!! and enjoy this next season of life.

I am so glad to hear that everything is going as planned for ya'll. You have been in my thoughts & prayers. I have lived on this property for 35 years now, but I think I would welcome a change, as my health won't let me do much. Are you keeping all of your animals & birds? I love to spin Jacob wool!

I know how you feel. It is bittersweet. When we moved from town.......the neighborhood we lived in was scary......yet the old house we had started our married life in and the children we raised there.....held such sweet times........I felt like we were abandoning and old friend. However, our happy life began when we also moved far away from town and we all have been happy since. I drive by the old house in town......where someone has moved in and is taking care of it......for which I am glad. I hope you have such happy times in your new nest!

Oh, I'm sure there are so many emotions swirling around right now as you leave your beloved home. I will miss Cedar Pond, too! But it is wonderful that you have another place to call home that you are looking forward to moving to. I do hope all your animals have a good transition as well! Looking forward to seeing posts from your new place.
And I'm sure the new family is very excited about living at Cedar Pond.
Hope all goes well with the move, Kathy.
