Remember, Please !

" Soldier, rest!Thy warfare is o'er, Dream of fighting fields no more." Sir Walter Scott "War mends but few, and spoils multitudes." Jeremy Taylor "I heard the sound of Taps one night when everything was still I listened to the bugler play and felt a certain chill I wondered how many times that Taps had meant 'Amen', When a flag had draped a coffin of a brother or a friend. I thought of all the children, Of the mothers and the wives, Of fathers, sons and husbands with interrupted lives. I thought about a graveyard at the bottom of the sea Of unmarked graves in Arlington, No, freedom isn't free." Memorial Day Poems "So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him, for He Himself knows our frame, He is mindful that we are but dust.As for man, his days are like grass, as a flower of the field, so he flourishes, when the wind has passed over it, it is no more....but the loving kindness of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him." Psalm 103 :13-16
What can we really say to the families of fallen soldiers ? Memorials and tributes do not bring back their loved ones or repair the wounds and scars of the families who have lost them . Memorials and tributes do not reach the fallen in their graves. Lives interrupted, forever.Respect though, is due them, and memorials serve us, the living. Memorials hopefully cause us to pause and remember the lost and fallen of so many wars and realize the true cost of war and strive to appreciate each other and what we have because of the sacrifice of so many for so many. In memory of the fallen, may there always be someone to remember you and tell your story.

I think of my mother's Dad, who died in battle during WW11 and all my classmates who died in Viet Nam. We honor and remember them today.

Words are definitely difficult to find, but gratitude for those that bravely fight for our freedom is ever-present.

God bless.
