Liberty Blue ~ Tea Time Tuesday

Liberty Blue China, Historic Colonial Scenes~ Old North Church Made In England
This plate ( above) is one my husband and I bought on a trip we took a few years ago to the East Coast. We spent several days in Boston, visiting many important historical sites. Do you know they have a lot to say about Tea Parties there in Boston? See, it is even commemorated on this souvenir plate ( click onto picture for close-up). Hmm, wonder if the participants of that tea party were verbally castigated and mocked for protesting high taxes imposed on them by the British? ( Rhetorical question) Today's teacup goes very well with the souvenir plate. We bought this teacup in Cannon Beach this September and I posted a tiny bit about it but I am excited to showcase this teacup again today in more detail because the Liberty Blue China, just like the plate, celebrates important moments of our early American history. "Lovely Liberty Blue China Teacup and Saucers were produced as part of a set of china showing different colonial scenes at the center of the various pieces, surrounded by a floral graphic. " Liberty Blue China was made in England and designed to commemorate the American Bicentennial. How far we have come since the Boston Tea Party. We rebellious Colonists fought the British ,gained our independence at great cost in bloodshed ( British & American), and now as a nation consider the British among our best friends. "Patriot: characterized by patriotism, influenced by love of one's native or adopted land, intended for public good." Funk & Wagnalls Dictionary The teacup celebrates Paul Revere's famous ride, the saucer depicts the Old North Church where Paul Revere told 3 Boston patriots to hang 2 lanterns in the steeple warning of the British troops' coming. "It is easy to take liberty for granted when you have never had it taken from you." AU As an aside, every time I think of Paul Revere now, I think of Italian food! My husband and I visited Paul Revere's home in Boston and it is surrounded by Italian restaurants. The sight and scent of all that delicious food permeates the whole area. You cannot visit without having to stop and eat at one of them. Now, I will finish my cup of tea while I make notes to myself regarding my selections in the voting booth tomorrow. Remember, the privilege of voting came at a dear price. Exercise your right wisely, and pray for the leaders of our country , whether they are your choice or not. Please visit the ladies below to see more of Tea Time Tuesday ~

Hi,Kathy and thank you for visiting my blog. I enjoyed your Liberty cups as I am a blue and white fan.Years ago I came up with a couple of cups and a friend and I learned we each had some pieces of this pattern. By trading her my cups for a few of her numerous plates, she had a complete set for four place settings. I use the plates all the time and mix with Blue Willow. I would collect other pieces if I had not started on my first love, Blue Willow.

I enjoyed your memories of Boston and it called up the spicy smells I too enoyed on my only trip there. I wanted so much to eat there but we walked the Freedom Trail with two rowdy young boys and we just kept on the move!

Also enjoyed yesterday's post and think your woven purse was gorgeous. Years ago I wove purses. I never made money but just earned enough to support my hobby. I wove clutches that opened with a spring closure that I had found. Cluthes were not popular when I started but that next fall Walmart came out with woven purses in clutch design with the same snap closure...and so cheap!

I have always liked the colors of blue and white together. They just seem to complement each other. Pretty tea cups, Kathy. :)

Your blue and white china is lovely. I really like the patterns with American history. Your post makes me want to go directly to ebay and start searching for historical theme china. :-)

The woven linens are also great.

I love blue and white, so really enjoyed your post. We have a plate much like your 'Boston' plate. We bought it more than 30 years ago in Valley Forge PA.
Thinking about your country today as you go to the polls.

I had the same reaction to Paul Revere's house being in Italian neighborhood - such a wonderful blend of what made our country unique and strong. Praying for good turnouts of patriots this voting day
Your tea day posts are so calm and thoughtful - very nice
by the way - we did early voting 'cause in all the races here it was quite clear cut who we'd choose.

I love blue/white transferware, and so fitting that you should post these red, white, & blue colors on this most important of days! I've already voted. I hope everyone else will do the same!
Tea would be wonderful today in these special cups - it's actually a little bit chilly here in Texas today!

What a appropriate item to post on a Teacup Tuesday which happens to fall on Election Day.
Many, many years ago, when my first husband was in the Army stationed in Ayer, Mass; we spent many days wandering around Boston and absorbing its History and delighting in it's wonderful restaurants - most of which back then were chowder shops.
"Listen my Children and you shall hear of the midnight ride of Paul Revere."
The blue & white of your teacup is awesome and to think history is shared every time you drink from it.
Thank you so much for sharing it.

Hugs,
Penny

Our family just finished reading "Johnny Tremain" by Esther Forbes. The story of Boston and the Sons of Liberty and where or Revelution began.
I think I should enjoy seeing Boston and it's rich history.

This china must revive happy memories for you!
Happy Election Day!
