Small Blessings

This is a busy time of year, when isn't it though? Do not be so carried away by the activities surrounding a time we say we are celebrating because of the birth of Jesus that you forget to take time for what is truly important.A lavishly decorated home filled with an abundance of presents, too many parties, frantic comings & goings, spending too much money on gifts that will be forgotten too soon all lead to being worn out and an empty heart. Treasure the true gifts of your family and friends, remember the One who gave His Son to save you, rejoice in your blessings. ~ Above, our grandson holds one of his new little Christmas bantam chicks. I think he knows how to take joy in the small blessings before him, and my husband & I take joy in his excitement and wonder over the chicks. What every day blessings make your heart sing this time of year?

Seeing a picture of your grandson and the baby chick is a joy to me. My favorite thing is when my family is all together, when it is dark, fire in the fireplace-everyone so cozy....

Hearing from friends near and far, the music at church, candle light ... so many things I see as blessings this time of year and truly they can happen anytime of the year. I think because our hearts and minds have Jesus' birth front and center we see everything in a better light. (It's all probably a 'heads up' from God that every day of the year would seem better if we would keep God and His amazing love first in our lives.) Thanks for your post this morning - I needed that.

My everyday blessing are my daily coffees and teas, I love the way it smells and I feel so lucky when its cold and I have a hot mug in my hands! Another blessing is listening to beautiful music of all kind. I even do it while working, I am blessed to be able to do that in the office I work. Next blessing is to come home, just coming home, I love the feeling, being at the same place as my family. And then, to go to bed, the moment just before you fall asleep and feel happy. And now, my brother and my little nephew are coming from England to spend Christmas with us! We will have a great time! No need for expensive things, no need for special food...just being together, being alive.

What a sweet picture. I'm sure that baby chick is a real treasure to your grandson. We are given so much if we just slow down and take a moment to notice. :)

Thank you, Kathy, for the reminder. This year I'm not too into Christmas for some reason ... I've been plodding along though. I think that I will read the Christmas story this morning, thanks! I love the post below too, of the boys and grandkids coming over. Your home is so inviting, and you are constantly making memories.

Hugs,

Kathy M.

I wanted to let you know that your sheep arrived a couple of weeks back and I just LOVE them! I did a post a few days ago, showing them with my little shepherd and some of the rest of the flock.
