This is what I often awake to, Blizzard my cat staring at me. I know this picture is slightly blurry, but I don't see well without my glasses or contacts and this really is what I see, close up and very personal. Blizzard does not sleep with us at night, my husband does not want the cats in bed. However, when my husband goes to work early in the morning Blizzard opens the door ( yes, he can open firmly shut doors ) and allows Miss Marple , our other cat, to precede him into the bedroom and onto the bed. Blizzard often tries to sleep close to my face but when he wakes me up while trying to curl up on my pillow I move him away and eventually the cats and I settle with them curled up at the foot of the bed. I sleep on quite peacefully with the comforting sound of a purring lullaby.
Our daughter and her children were visiting last week. You can see Blizzard knows he is an important member of the family. He took his place on the sofa to listen in on the conversation, and why not ? Cats, I love them, especially mine .
In June 2016 we sold Cedar Pond and moved over the mountains and far away. We now live in Deer Park , WA where the weather is a bit more extreme than Cedar Pond's and in spite of the challenges we're rejoicing in life in our new home with field and forest just outside our back door. God is so good to us !

Cats are such interesting creatures! I don't know how I'd react to waking up to see someone staring at me like that...
I like your Blizzard story. He's handsome.
Miss Tork likes to lie on my chest, either facing me or laying crosswise, for a time of bonding, then she jumps off and sleeps at the head of the bed beside me. She will wake me up during the night with gentle pats with claws slightly out, wanting more bonding time. She's a real comfort and I am thankful for her.
Have a wonderful weekend. Glad you had a nice time of family being together.

Aah how sweet. Mine are the same although Millie stops Panda from coming upstairs!
Nice to see your family visiting.
Blizzard sitting there on the sofa definitely looks like he fits right in with the rest of the family. :)
Your Blizzard sure is a cutie pie!!
Well, we do sleep with 2 of our 4 cats. One is a very serious sleeper and if we move around too much or touch her with our feet, she growls. It's actually quite funny as you will hear her growl and then a quiet, "sorry, Ghost" from the offending party. Yes, it's obvious who rules the roost here.
Oh yes, I love kitties. And I love when they come and curl up on one's bed to the sound of sweet purrs.
Blizzard and Miss Marple -- wonderful names. We named our same-litter lads 'Gilbert and Sullivan'. And our other two Roxy and Miss Kitty (after Miss Kitty from Gunsmoke for when she arrived in the family she knew how to keep the boys in line).
I am so grateful for the gift of kitty cats.
Wishing you a purr-fectly wonderful weekend...

My husband bans our cat from the bedroom too. When I was recently visiting a friend I let her cats come and go in my bedroom. One of them liked to sleep right by my head, and I really did love the company. It was a little disconcerting though to wake up and look right into those eyes so close to mine!
