Pt. Defiance Zoo

Lemur looks at us , we look at him. Isn't he gorgeous!
Our daughter , her 4 children , and myself all went to the Pt. Defiance Zoo and Aquarium in Tacoma. Who knew there would be record high temperatures today? The 4 grandchildren squint in the sunshine as they patiently wait for me to take their picture.
This is a wonderful zoo and it is full of interactive educational 'toys' and playgrounds for children, big and little ones alike.
One playground area lets kids ( like #1 Grandson ) be hermit crabs, or there is a big toy sea anemone to to pop up out of, a large net shaped like a spider web to climb. You can view the real animals and insects too!
One of the new exhibits is a Meerkat village and I could have sat and watched these fascinating little animals ALL day.
Another new exhibit is a large enclosed outdoor area where you can hold up a little stick with bird seed and honey and have a budgerigar land on it . I liked this exhibit too, and I had a little budgie eat the seeds off my stick. I think BOB would like this exhibit ! Here #2 Granddaughter, KN, enjoys a friendly bird perched on the stick she holds out.
If you click on this it will enlarge and you can see the bird eating.
Our daughter and youngest grandchild, #2 Grandson, or , Little J. He was so happy all day. He is usually a very happy boy!
BUT...ENOUGH PICTURES GRANDMA!
This is my 303rd post, and I am still enjoying blogging, and reading so many of your wonderful blogs! Thank-you. I will be putting the names of anyone commenting into my "drawing" after my 305th post! So if you would like the chance to win wee little sheep or hand spun wool yarn, leave a comment!

These are such fun pictures Kathy. Looks like everyone enjoyed the visit. It's been a really long time since I've visited the Atlanta Zoo.

I really miss going there. It has so much to offer, right in the middle of the city. We might try a petting zoo at a farm next week if the weather stays nice. It is about 20-30 minutes from my place. Hunter goes to his other grandmas every Sat. and they have a farm but I thought he might enjoy something different and Paul is on vacation.

The sunshine looked good, but I can imagine 94 degrees was quote warm! Those grandbabies of yours are so beautiful, including momma. The zoo was one of my favorite places when I was a child (imagine that?), and I love to see children happily enjoying themselves there. Meerkats do seem to be fascinating. I have only seen them on television, or in photos.

I love the meerkats! They are so funny. It must be a very nice zoo, and I know you and your grandkids had a ball. I must say, they are all very nice posing for the camera!

I love seeing the kids have so much fun! That's neat that they got to feed those budgies! And I've always wanted to see a meerkat!

Your grandchildren have the best temperaments! Love seeing them in the zoo environment - always one of my favorite places to visit anywhere anytime of year. Sure wish you enjoyed your offspring and their kiddos - but we can all see how long suffering you are (ROFL - you have more FUN with your kids and their kids!) Thanks for sharing - it is cool here - you must have borrowed some of our Texas weather!

So many cute pictures. I saw a sweet spider over on A.Joy's blog and here I find a cute crab! HA! I can sure see a resemblance between you and your daughter, Kathy. Looks like you had a fun day. :)

Looks like a really fun and happy day! Loved the pictures. What neat exhibits they have there! I can just imagine how much fun that shell or the spiderweb would be for a kid.

It does look like you had fun at the zoo. You know I only live 3 minutes from there and have yearly zoo passes. I would love to join you next time or just meet up for lunch or icecream for the kids.
