Our New Best Friend

Meet Chip, our new best friend. Chip and my husband will be spending a lot of time together, they have a big job ahead of them. We hope Chip our new wood-chipper is up to the job ! I am trying to catch up on reading & commenting on blogs. The work load outside is enormous after the ice storm damage to our place. So much damage it is hard for me to look out the window at the destruction of our woods & gardens. I am sure in a few weeks though, I will be excited to help my husband plan and create new plantings. But, this will take awhile, the destruction is so massive around here and the work to be done just cleaning it up is going to take a lot of time & energy. Day light hours will be spent outside unless the weather is dreadful, then I will be getting ready for lambing time which arrives here any day now. Life is good, God is gracious and we are blessed. ~

It is so hard to see the damage to the trees. My parents live out in your general area, and they had a couple of young fellows come out today to clear the yard. The pictures looked bad.

It must be so very hard to see the change to your beloved property. I love your gift of being able to look ahead to enjoyment of planning and planting. For now, I wish you, your husband, and Chip a great working relationship!

It always amazes me, the strength of a storm. I hope the weather will be nice as the work goes on to clear your beautiful property...Chip looks like a good helper.
You're positive attitude is so inspiring.

Glad to hear Chip has come to help you. The trees you lost can be used to mulch, maybe this will take away a bit of the sting. God bless your lambing adventures.

Good luck to you and your husband, Kathy in getting your property cleaned up again and getting rid of the damaged trees. I know the damage was extensive, and it will take some time to get things back to normal again. Thinking of you and will keep you in my prayers.

amen God is good all the time. Wood chipper is a great helper to decrease large piles of stuff to useful product. SO sorry about t he damage - daunting but you are correct - Jim's ingenuity and your "eye" for landscape design will make it even better - different but better -no damage to the beautiful dove cote was there?

The chipper is definitely a great buy!!! We have one. When we moved into this house our woods were overgrown into the yard. There are a lot of old trees that come down every winter so the chipper is in use every summer just about. It is a great workhorse. So sorry for your plight. Praying for you guys and I know your faith is getting you through this ordeal. Hugs. LJ

Kathleen, love your new "woodchuck" (it's all about varmints with me, ya know...) I knot it'll be of priceless value as you clean up from the storm. Can you use all that chipped up stuff for flowerbeds like mulch? Can it be used for your animals bedding? I don't know how small it chips... I'm glad this storm is over for you guys, and hope it's the last one for a long, long time!

I am sorry to read about all of the damage to your property, but hopefully soon you will be able to enjoy the fun of beginning anew with plantings.

Chip looks like a pretty handy fellow to have around, Kathy! And I'm sure your DH will be glad to keep him around for a while.
I was so sorry to hear about his bees... that had to be so heartbreaking for Jim. Did he lose all the hives or just one?

i always admire how you take the vicissitudes of life with a grain of salt and such a positive and humble attitude.

that's why i look to you for uplifting so often, you are always SO POSITIVE and, i, sometimes, let things get to me too much.
