Porch Ponderings~ "Always Remember To Cuddle"

From my porch I watch my sheep, the birds at the feeders, the ducks as they waddle by. I listen to the rain and the wind.It has been a very rainy , cold spring ~ and now into June, we here in Washington are the coldest place in the U.S., colder than Alaska and the northernmost territories. The weatherman did say Siberia was a tad colder. So the porch is a nice place to sit with a hot cup of coffee, ponder, enjoy the view.A warm sweater makes it more bearable too.
Some of my ponderings from the porch have lately centered on some of the dear ladies I have come to know through blogging who have recently lost their beloved husbands to death. I count these dear ladies as friends, and their loss saddens me, yet both of these women loved men who love Jesus, and they are confidant they will again be with their husbands in eternity. ( John 3:16 ) A recent obituary in our local paper caught my eye because of the deceased's  life motto, I think it is one we should all strive for:"Live simply and always be grateful for the love and friendship life bestows on you, and always remember to cuddle".

There's not much to see from our porch though.

That is a wise sentiment. I had dinner last night with my best friend Mona who lost her husband Greg 3 years ago to lymphoma. She has a new grandbaby to cuddle just like me. We talked about her evolution in widowhood and life changes. It seems I'm hearing of more and more women my age losing husbands to strokes and heart attacks. Maybe that has something to do with my age. :D

That is a beautiful quote to remember, Kathy.
Thanks for the chuckle, too~ I'm glad to know it's a little warmer there than it is in Siberia... :)

Hello from North of You, where it's cold as can be. Yesterday I had to wear my winter rain jacket. Unbelievable! I hope this isn't a summer like last year!
Cuddling is so good for the heart and soul - I may adopt that motto.

Thanks for sharing this post. It's relaxing sitting on the porch, just thinking and watching the birds. I can't imagine losing my husband, as he's my best friend, but my thoughts are with your friends.
Here's hoping some warm weather heads your way.

Your porch and your view from your porch is so comforting and lovely!

Can't believe cool/cold weather when it's in the 90's and dry as a bone here.

"Live simply and always be grateful for the love and friendship life bestows on you, and always remember to cuddle". Beautiful!!! Yesterday, I cuddled with David in the recliner he was sitting in at AlzCare..so sweet!

And we are having the nicest spring in 20 years! I was out gardening three times this week and only got two mosquito bites. That is highly unusual for the upper Midwest.

My five-year-old grandson spent the night last weekend. When we sat down to watch a Curious George Movie together he asked, "Can I comfy with you Grandma?" Cuddling our loved ones is comfy and cosy, isn't it?

I forgot to comment. Your home is so beautiful; I would love a porch like that, Kathy. And a view. But I don't want to put as much work into everything like you guys do, and that it what it takes ... years of dedication. Happy for you and to get to see everything on your blog.

Kathy, Love your header. We think alike. Something so soothing about watching wildlife in a pond, river, the beach, isn't there? Your porch is utterly charming. My hubby is 8 years older than I am and as we age, I thank the Lord more and more through out the day for just the simple, things that hubby and I do each day together. I had planned a similiar themed post for next week on "enjoying the simple acts of love". Cuddling would be very, very high on our list every day. This post was such a blessing. Have a precious weekend and stay warm. I could send some heat from us here in FL.

Kathy, cuddles are good as are warm sweaters; hope weather improves for y'all. It's HOT here but, so far, not very humid.

I like that motto too. Your porch seems like a very nice place to view the world from, although I do love the warm weather of summer. It has been in the high 80's here the last few days and may hit 90 today.

We are not the cuddling type in our household, however, we are best friends. I cannot imagine living without my partner. The pain has to be immense. Thank you for the reminder, Kathy, to cuddle and love as much as we can. It really is important.

Thank you Kathy for mentioning those of us going through what is the worst part of loving deeply - the leaving part. Your porch is so welcoming - right now I'm cuddling our little dog, Conan - he is grieving terribly over losing his favorite person -
