Tea & Tragedy

Tea and reading on a stormy day . A little contemplation too . The teacup is a gift from Linda Sue , one of my first blogging friends .Linda Sue lives in Texas. She and her husband Skip prayed for my family during some very difficult times and I believe we're friends though I've never met her or her husband in person. Linda Sue's beloved husband Skip is with the Lord now and she continues to be an encouragement to me . The book on top of my Bible is one Linda Sue is reading and I am thankful for her recommendation .This book references Job and his pain & suffering as written in the Bible. Ever read the book of Job in the Bible ? Until a few years ago I thought it a depressing book to read ( avoid ), but when crisis and tragedy struck our family and seemed to keep on coming with no happy ending in sight I found myself taking my cuppa and my Bible down to the table by our pond and reading...and reading. I discovered the book of Job in the Old Testament , a book of sadness and almost unbelievable tragedy, was also a book of encouragement in a dark time.
The teacup is Majestic by Royal Grafton . I think it is a classic beauty . Thank-you Linda Sue !
"Suffering leaves our idols in pieces on the ground. It puts us in a position to see that God sent His Son not only to suffer in our place but also to suffer with us. Our merciful friend has been through it all...And while He may not deliver us from pain and loss , He'll walk with us through it. " Hebrews 4:15-16 Tullian Tchividjian 'Glorious Ruin ' .

A lovely tea cup and thanks for the book review. I met Linda Sue through your blog. I treasure both of you as blog friends.

You are such a dear friend, I know Skip's Mom is proud you are enjoying one of her treasured tea cups! She and Skip are in Glory now - some days I long for it but know there is still life to be lived.
Thank you for your kind words - your family has and continues to be an inspiration to me. Skip was always glad I didn't want any of your Jacob sheep ("enough hassle with our Nubians and NO horns") LOL
virtual hugs to you dear Kathy - y'all keep on keeping on - I think it takes some life experience to be able to grasp how much inspiration there is in Job's story.

Hello Kathy,
This is a wonderful and heart felt post. We all go through times of trial and testing because we live in a fallen world. I'm sorry for your friend's loss. I am at the moment spending much time in prayer for someone very dear to me who is fighting lung cancer. It is a very sad time for my family. The good news is the Lord is in control and we must trust Him to bring about what He sees best.
That is a gorgeous teacup! Thank you for joining me for tea today and have a beautiful day.

Blessings,
Sandi

Prayer is the ballast that keeps us afloat in stormy seas. Still praying for you and yours, Kathy.

The Book of Job has often impacted and sustained my heart and my thinking in foul weather, and I have clung to Job 13:15a like a barnacle to solid rock in the midst of a tempest.

Hello. What a thoughtful, lovely gentle post. It has made me remember a study my Bible Study group did on Job many years ago and a lesson that changed me. 'Be Still. Know that I am God.' I am featuring you blog this coming week in my post 'Feeling a Little Sheepish?'
I borrowed a picture f your sheeps from your Etsy. Please let me know if it is okay. Angels to you, and may they guard your furry family as well.
