Delicious Autumn!

Miss Marple is supervising my autumn decorating. She is not pleased with me. I asked her to get off the table so I could finish arranging my table centerpiece. Never mind the fact that she is not supposed to be on the table in the first place....as far as she is concerned , rules like that do not apply to her. She sits and sleeps wherever she pleases.
There is so much to be done in my favorite season! Apples and grapes need harvesting and preserving."Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns." George Eliot
My herb garden is full of herbs needing to be dried for use throughout the rest of the year. Drying fennel fills the house with its' pleasant licorice scent.
The rugosa is loaded with huge, beautiful rose hips. "Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting, and autumn a mosaic of them all." Stanley Horowitz
I also cut and dried oregano, marjoram, and brought in some rosemary to use fresh in a poultry dish. Rosemary grows prolifically in our herb garden all year long, so it is always available to me fresh, even in the coldest weather.
Apples lined up on the porch railing. "For man, autumn is a time of harvest, of gathering together. For nature , it is a time of sowing, of scattering abroad." Edwin Way Teale Blessings: abundant fruit and vegetables grown right here on Cedar Pond, friends and family to share it with,

Good Morning Kathy, What an envigorating post this morning! I love all your Autumn pictures. The images of your grands raking leaves, Joey Cat and Miss Marple supervising the fall decorating, imagining the aroma of the fresh fruit and herbs. Wishing you a day of blessings!

Isn't Fall fun? And it is pleasant to think of the joy that will come later from all this busy-ness as our families enjoy the fruits of our labors. The pies, preserves, and yes, the herbs. I love rosemary. Especially in my home-made chicken soup. Those are some really big rosehips. Larger than the ones I buy to make potpourri.
Apples slices are also great for drying and making wreaths. I'm thankful that God has given me a love for my home.

My Marvin totally understands Ms. Marples reasoning that she is allowed to sit anywhere she wants. Marvin thinks that too - his new favorite is laying across my computer keyboard so I can't type anything! Loved that fruit basket - such a great harvest you had! Happy Autumn!

Ms. Marple definitely has to mind set to staying in her chosen spot. I can see it in her eyes. I loved all of the photos, especially the one where you were cutting herbs.

I need to get down to the apple tree. Surely the apples here are ready now too!

God Bless!

You have shared of your bounty so beautifully! This is the best time of year....and I say that with every new season! :)
We tell everyone that the cats aren't allowed on the table, too! You are sooo right about them doing whatever they want!

Miss Marple's belief is shared by every cat I've ever known - where a cat wants to be is the right place no matter what their human servants claim. One reason we no longer have a house cat! Beautiful display of bounty and if my nose weren't stuffed up I think I could almost smell that rosemary!

There are no rules for cats, only suggestions that are taken under advisement when it's convenient. I loved your pictures. Have a wonderful day.

You grow such an amazing variety of things. Rosemary is one of those great filler plants that will grow perfectly here all year long too. I just love it. Your apples and grapes look delicious.

Hi, Kathy:

Your present blog site IS Autumn

Wonderful apples spilling over pumpkins and herbal scents over all.

Love the quote by the autumn lover expressing his affection for the season and the idea of crossing thne earth to enjoy all the Autumns around the globe.

It is as I said in a poem I wrote for my blog, "Autumnn is old fashioned." Everybody seems to love her.

Mildred, Thank-you. The sights and scents of autumn are wonderful, aren't they?

Debbie, you got me thinking about drying apple slices for my autumn decorating, and also storing away to eat later. thanks! The rose hips are big, aren't they? They are from a very hardy rugosa , and the hips are actually prettier than the roses it produces.

Susie, thank-you!

Shelley,Marvin is getting pretty big , how does he get onto your keyboard? I would love for you to post a picture of that! SOON!

Mary, cats do have a way of letting you know how they feel without ever uttering a sound, don't they? I am glad God endowed them with purrs so we can hear when they are happy with us and the world.

Flower, I know, and I don't just tell the cat to get off the table...I move her off the table only to turn around and see her on it again and looking at me as if I am the one with the problem. Silly me.

LindaSue, your nose is stuffed up? Are you sick? I know that is one of the reasons so many people have problems with cats. Can't help myself, I love them!

Mary, I like that.." no rules for cats, only suggestions that are taken under advisement" I just might embroider or stencil that on something....

Leslie, yes. rosemary would do well in your part of the country. And it is evergreen, so fragrant and even better, useful.

Vikki, you have 3 cats too? I knew we had even more in common. And yes, Miss Marple does have an attitude, but she is the best at dispatching vermin so she can be haughty, she is good at her job.

Audry, your poetry evokes so many pictures in my mind. Yes, you are right about Autumn, thank-you!

Julie, thank-you for visiting, I will indeed visit you.
