An empty nest found on my herb garden path a week ago . It must have been blown down by the very quick and short storm that blew through here. No more baby birds, no more parent birds. A nest that fulfilled a need and no longer required. An empty nest.

It's amazing to think about how long it took to build that nest and how well it has held up.
They are so wonderfully made. I always wonder how many hours or days that it takes to bet it to be so perfect.
It's really amazing how these nests are made and so sturdy, too. I'm glad the babies were already moved out.
I hope the parents are out enjoying their freedom and not all depressed because the kids flew the nest!

Often the phrase 'empty nest' feels like a negative, but I like the way you put it, that is a nest that has fulfilled a need ... fulfilled its destiny. And so it's okay to be empty.

A very nicely built nest. My nest was empty but one of my little birds flew back home with her hubby for a little while...
