Granddaughters For Hire, And Fun!

Two of our granddaughters playing with the fruits of their labor under our grape arbor.
I hired two of my granddaughters, my daughter's daughters, to help me pick all the blueberries and also help with other things that need doing. They were very happy to help too!
I believe that even after eating all the blueberries they wanted, there are still enough left over for one batch of blueberry jam and some blueberry muffins.
This little granddaughter "cleaned up" the backyard by scooping what my dogs leave behind after they have eaten well. She is very good at this job and takes pride in doing it well~
After picking blueberries, and cleaning up the back yard, we thought a meal at a Chinese buffet restaurant was called for. I think from the smiles on their faces ( yes, the granddaughter sipping root beer has the beginning of her smile showing) and the full tummies we had, this was a welcome reward. But as you can see below, payment in Barbie dresses is a much more tangible and fun reward!

Good Morning Kathy, Your granddaughters have the prettiest smiles and such long, shiny hair! What a blessing to have them to help you around the yard and the Chinese buffet sounds delicious! They must get their love of root beer from their older brother. I love their Barbie dolls and the pretty dresses. Hope you all have a delightful weekend.

Hi Mildred. I think their father loves root beer too, as does their Grandpa!

The Barbie dresses were in a little exhibitor shop next to the Chinese restaurant, and there was one booth full of Barbie dresses sewn by an older lady. The sewing was exquisite and the dresses were 50% off, less expensive than buying doll dresses from a discount store and so much more beautiful.

Thank-you, we are looking forward to a peaceful weekend.

Hey, when I was that age there was nothing better than a new Barbie outfit. Of course, ours were homemade most of the time, but once in a while....
Happy weekend!

Kathy, your beautiful granddaughters are such good helpers, especially the picking up the dog...... stuff.
Our granddaughters love Barbie's too, and those handmade clothes are better and cheaper than store bought.
Happy, peaceful weekend dear friend.

Debbie,The dresses were handmade by a local woman so I guess they're home made.Playing with Barbies was one of the highlights of my childhood too.

Vickie,thank-you! And yes, Chinese food and Barbies is fun for me too, so in addition to helping me, I enjoyed the fruits of their reward and time with them!

Keetha, the other day, outside work. Next month I will hire them for housework, and they're pretty good at it too!

Dolores, we were very happy to discover this new Chinese place, and the food there was cheaper than a Happy Meal for the girls and all they could eat. So I got a bargain in paying them, best of all, I has time with them~ thank-you.

oh my you have the BEST helpers of anybody I know. I'd love to hire those gorgeous girls but I'm afraid their mother and father wouldn't be keen about the commute to Texas!

It is fantastic to be able to be so close those children. I'd love to have some grandkids. Barbie dresses, Chinese buffet and your very own blueberries! I'm impressed with the handmade Barbie clothes too.

It's wonderful to have such sweet and willing helpers, Kathy. Looks like you made the chores more fun with the way they were rewarded too. Time well spent all around. :)

Come see me soon.

LindaSue, they might like the adventure, but you're right, their Mom & Dad wouldn't let them go. ( They offered to help me with housework next time!)

Southern Comfort, Soon enough you'll have grandkids and I can tell your place will be THE place for them to be!

Daisy, my "payment" was a spur of the moment thing, and they would have been happy with Top Ramen for lunch and 2 dollars apiece as payment. But this was a lot more fun, and the very well sewn handmade Barbie dresses were 50% off, cheaper than store bought badly made ones!

Diana, thank-you for visiting, I will check out your blog!

What a lot of fun, and more good memories for those sweet girls. this morning I made blueberry muffins for my little grandsons - I'm on the other side of the country visiting them this week and, as you can imagine, having a great time.
