Comfort Comes In Dog & Cat

My Bea, she loves me, she lives for me.I love her.
~Our granddaughter's cat Blizzard who lives with us.A dog in cat form.I love him too.
These two cuddle on the hearth in front of the wood stove, adding an air of peace and comfort to our home. Who can measure ,really, all the company of a beloved pet adds to our well-being, our sense of contentment? The world may be scary, our personal trials many, but the cat purring against our heart, the beloved dog leaning firmly in at our side gives a comfort words cannot describe. "A cat improves the garden wall in sunshine, and the hearth in foul weather." Judith M. Riley

Dogs I know, but cats have never been part of our household due to family allergies. There are two cats that make our out-buildings home, taking care of mice etc, but they don't come in and they don't even come around for food, though I've left it out for them over the years. My brother has a cat, and when I visit him I'm always struck by the peace I feel when the cat jumps into my lap and curls up.

Oh so true!!!! God gave us animals to care for, and in return they give so much love and comfort.

Your dog and cat are so handsome!!!

I know some people cringe at the thought of a dog or cat in their bed, but ours sleep with us, and they're more comforting than any medication.

We're doing well...... hoping you are too.

Have a good weekend!

I thought of you at work yesterday when looking at my friends collection of lambs and sheep on her desk. May have to mosey over to your Etsy shop for some Christmas sheep. Have a great weekend.

We have 20+ cats here and 3 dogs but my sister's dog is visiting this week.

There is only 1 cat that's allowed in with our Great Pyrenees.

Dogs and cats make such wonderful companions and friends--always at our side no matter what. Sweet pictures, Kathy. :)

Kathy, you are so right! There's something so comforting about our animals - they love us no matter what. Us humans should have that no-matter-what kinda love for each other and acceptance all the time - I know most of us do for family, but as Christians we could certainly learn something from our critters. Thank you for this post today. Your critters looks awfully comfortable!

The world becomes a better place when you have a soft and floppy ear to caress.

The dogs, especially, are what get me moving in the morning...and sometimes in the middle of the night! Thank God for furry friends and thank you, Kathy, for your prayers. They are needed and appreciated.

Hi KathyB. Your post reminded me of this lovely poem, and I thought you would like it.

PAX

All that matters is to be at one with the living God
to be a creature in the house of the God of Life.

Like a cat asleep on a chair
at peace, in peace
and at one with the master of the house, with the mistress,
at home, at home in the house of the living,
sleeping on the hearth, and yawning before the fire.

Sleeping on the hearth of the living world
yawning at home before the fire of life
feeling the presence of the living God
like a great reassurance
a deep calm in the heart
a presence
as of the master sitting at the board
in his own and greater being,
in the house of life.
