Playing With Pumpkins & Squashes

I was playing with my ceramic pumpkins and squashes the other day trying to decide how I want to arrange them on our buffet.
This looks too cluttered but I am leaving the arrangement this way for now while I think about it. Do you ever decorate that way ?

Not all my pumpkins and squashes are ceramic. I traded a few dozen of my chickens' eggs and some lavender bunches for this huge blue squash at a Poultry Swap last weekend. Isn't she a beauty ? She even matches most of my home décor. I was told she is a meat eater squash grown from heirloom seeds. I am going to harvest her seeds and plant some of these beauties for myself. I have never been too interested in growing veggies and garden produce but now I am . Have any of you ever grown these ? Any tips ?

Still excited my favorite season has begun , I am doing a happy dance in my heart right now.

Kathy, it looks beautiful and as to your question, I don't decorate. Heck, I barely clean. lol

Love your ceramic pumpkins and yes, I can overdecorate at times, or there is something I don't quite like and just have to go away for a bit, to come back for a look later and make changes.

I laughed out loud reading Sandra's comment, that's me too. I really only decorate for Christmas. I need to do some home cleaning too. Bought a new mop and some Mrs. Meyers Clean Day lavender scented to inspire me and make the house smell good. :-)

Have a wonderful week enjoying your fall weather. It still feels like summer down here.

The display created on the buffet is very nice Kathy, I'm partial to ceramic pumpkins for decor too.
As to the blue pumpkin, an awesome shade of blue and definitely worth saving seeds to pass along. I've never grown pumpkins but the few veggies I do grow, heirloom seeds never fail.
Happy Sunday!

Autumn is a happy time in my heart, too. It's been fun seeing pumpkins everywhere!

i have decorated before and sure like to see the results. I have a ceramic pumpkin with a lid like the one you have. I fixed it many years ago when I was a young mom and went weekly with 2 friends to the ceramic hut. I know it's out in the garage somewhere. Maybe it will be located and I'll decorate as well. The month of October is just around the corner.

Happy Fall, Kathy. The ceramic pumpkins/squash are so colorful and make a lovely vignette. Just last week at the local apple orchard, I saw one of these blue pumpkins. Very nice. Best wishes with the seeds.

I too love Autumn and all the pumpkin decorations. I think your buffet looks just perfect the way it is and I wouldn't change a thing. Your blue pumpkin is very unusual indeed. I wish you success with the seed harvest.

I have my air conditioning on so my happy dance is delayed until our late summer succumbs to my longing for Fall. The nights are cool, though, so we are half way there.

I used to decorate sumptuously, but as I've grown older my tastes are much more spartan. My brain gets cluttered too easily these days, and I function better in a simpler environment. Even so, your bounty of pumpkins speaks well for this season. When it comes to pumpkins, it is so hard to choose which one not to use, so unless you need the space for serving, I say use them all!

Your ceramic pumpkins look pretty to me. Good luck growing your blue squash. I've never tried to grow those, but I have grown yellow squash and zucchini.

Your blue squash is very unusual. I do hope you get lots of squash babies from it. I have not decorated for fall yet at all. I think your buffet looks very festive.
