Spot on The Shepherd

~"Is not the cup of blessing which we bless a sharing in the blood of Christ ?Is not the bread which we break a sharing in the body of Christ ? Since there is one bread, we who are many are one body: for we all partake of the one bread." I Corinthians 10:16,17 ~We had our gathering in our home tonight. A shared meal, and shared blessings, burdens, prayer, and praises to God. A time of renewal and rejoicing....and remembering. ~I am a lousy shepherdess, and my sheep suffer for it. I do my best, but I am human and no matter how much time and money and experience I lavish on my sheep, I WILL fail them inevitably...because I am a flawed human. Just as those people we trust to shepherd us are human , and flawed, and sometimes even harmful to us...God's sheep. There is a shepherd who will NOT fail us."The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want." Ps. 23 ~Hubby installed our electric fence today, and I just checked on my flock. They are all spread out in their pen, chewing their cuds with no sign of worry...so I think for the rest of this early morning they are fine. I will go to bed and my Hubby will take my place and check the sheep every so often until the sun breaks. ~ I have been reading a small book by Max Lucado, Safe In The Shepherd's Arms. It is a slim volume and I finished it , but there are a few lines I would like to post here. ~" Have you ever wondered why God gives us so much? We could exist on far less. He could have left the world flat and gray, we wouldn't have known the difference. But He didn't .
He splashed orange in the sunrise And cast the sky in blue. And if you love to see geese as they gather, chances are you'll see that too. Did He have to make squirrel's tails furry? Was He obliged to make the birds sing? And the funny way that chickens scurry, or the majesty of thunder when it rings? Why give a flower fragrance ? Why give food its taste? Could it be He loves to see that look up on your face?
~If we give gifts to show our love, how much more would He? If we -speckled with foibles and greed-love to give gifts, how much more does God, pure and perfect God, enjoy giving gifts to us? He chose the nails" Blessings: brothers and sisters in Christ, fellowship, electric fencing and Hubby installing it

Kathy, thank you. I look each day to read your postings and daily reminders. I was thinking the other day, something felt missing. I got busy enough to not read the bible. But I never get busy enough to forget, that is part of the beauty. The shepherd knows, and we are reminded. I love Max Lucado. I need to start digging back into my library, a devotion to books, and the bible on a daily basis, if only for 15 minutes.

Good Morning Kathy, What a lovely post today. The words you quoted from Max Lucado are so beautiful. I hope the electric fence will give you some peace of mind and protection for the sheep. I hope you are beginning to feel better. Thank you for your sweet comments and for friendship and prayers for Nalley and me.

Hoping the electric fence is giving you the extra protection needed for your beautiful sheep. I was convicted this morning in church how terribly sinful my nature is - no need to list the specifics but wonderful worship and sermon gave me reminders of the Worthiness of the Lamb and security of His faithfulness. So once again - I know today - it isn't about me. Your gathering looks so wonderful - what joy there is in worshipping with those we love. Rest friend

Mary, thank-you! I too am so guilty about getting busy and then after way too much time in busyness I realize something is not right....my heart! I am far more stubborn and stupid than my sheep most of the time and my Shepherd and yours loves us anyway.

Mildred, the electric fence seems to have helped, and I am feeling much better. Thank-YOU!

LindaSue,yes ! I regret that it seems to take crisis of heart, health, etc., to cause me to continually turn to God for His wisdom and provision. I constantly forget that I have so many blessings because He loves and cares for me in spite of myself, and if you check out Mildreds' blog, she has posted a hymn about the God of the valleys is the God of the mountains and amen! He loves and cares for us no matter our variableness!(sp?)

Thank you Kathy - Mildred's posting is touching - yep - been on the mountain and often in the valleys. All week I've had an attribute of our Lord on my heart -faithfulness - He is the only one we can cling to - He can't be washed away by floods of troubles or tears.

Kathy, just now caught up with your posts. We have been busy helping Mike move his one store into the other. I am tired. With lots on the reader board to read.

Sorry to hear of your loss of lamb. Dall gern coyotes. dirt has found that they are afraid of orange buckets.

Talk to you soon.

I felt as if I could reach in and grab a swatch of that beautiful bread! How lovely! And the post is beautiful.

I hope those electric fences work!

What a beautiful post, Kathy...
I too think of things like this and how much greater The Shepherd cares for his flock. Thanks for sharing your heart today!
