In June 2016 we sold Cedar Pond and moved over the mountains and far away. We now live in Deer Park , WA where the weather is a bit more extreme than Cedar Pond's and in spite of the challenges we're rejoicing in life in our new home with field and forest just outside our back door. God is so good to us !

Happy Birthday Joni~
My younger sister, well, all my sisters are younger than me, and taller- my younger sister Joni had a birthday yesterday and to celebrate it 3 of us girls got together for lunch in my home. Our youngest sister is in New York . We miss you baby sister! If you want to laugh til you cry just hang around these ladies. I kid you not, I am the "straight man" in the foursome, they are so funny. I always feel like I am several steps behind them as the jokes and pranks are speeding by, or over my head. I eventually catch on, but by then they are several funnies ahead. At this rate though, if we have the privilege of spending many more birthdays together we will have to wear some Depends because of all the laughing.
Here is Joni holding up her new birthday girl goblet ( I get mine on my next birthday) and my kitten Ralphie. Joni is a cat lover and wants a cat very badly. She loves her husband way too much to inflict a cat on him, so to make him happy because she loves him Joni will enjoy my cat when she is here. So, happy, happy birthday sister, I love you!"Family faces are magic mirrors looking at people who belong to us, we see the past, present, and future." Gail Buckley

NOTHING LIKE SISTERS AND YOURS ARE CUTE ONES TOO! LOVE THE QUOTE TOO, VERY TRUE. IT'S SO FUN TO GET TOGETHER WITH SISTERS AND LAUGH! COME SAY HI :D
I can only imagine what a day with fun sisters would be like. I get to watch my two daughters have fun and I am thankful for that. How fortunate to have 2 out of 3 so near you! These good times in our lives are so precious to us. I'm very happy for you and I have no doubt Joni had a Happy Birthday:)
That little cat has the funniest expression. He's a cutie.
Debbie
Thank you Kathy for a wonderful wonderful birthday. I enjoy our traditional birthday celebrations and enjoy having my candles blown out around my sisters! While I have enjoyed our lunches at the Olive Garden, your home makes a stupendously better environment for the Hartley Girls to have fun than in public! :-)
Joni
Happy belated birthday Joni! What special memories you are creating - looks like a lot of fun and I hear ya' about the Depends!!! That Ralphie is a camera hog, isn't he??? So cute.
It sounds like you all had a wonderful time. It's not hard to tell you were all cut from the same cloth. There is a strong familial resemblance.
I sure hope Joni had a very happy birthday. My sister and I always enjoy getting together laughing and telling stories. Glad you and your sisters could get-together.
Happy birthday, Joni!
I was thinking, Kathy, if you are several thoughts behind when the laughter begins, I bet you also become the target of giggles.
Sisters are such a gift!
Happy Birthday Joni, you are all so lucky to have each other.
Happy birthday to your sister, Kathy. Hope she had a special day. Having family to share those days that are significant to us is a treasure.
How blessed you are! I have one sister and am so thankful for her. She is my best friend. Looks like you had a great little party there. And your kitty got to attend too!
Julie, do you have sisters you are able to get together with?
Debbie, Joni did have a happy birthday, how could she not, she was with two of her older sisters? Ralphie is a funny cat, and he has taken quite a liking to my husband. Interesting ( or very smart), since my husband was not happy about another cat in the house.
Joni, Thanks! And as Dad & Mom always asked, do you FEEL another year older?
Mildred, more than that, Ralphie is a LAP hog!
Mary, my daughter has noticed we are all resembling each other more as we age....
Brenda Kay, thank-you. Do you get together with your sister often?
Mary, you are so right about me being the target, but sometimes , yes sometimes, the tables are turned and then what fun it is!
Noble Pig, we feel mmore and more blessed every year..and next January our baby sister will hit the half-century mark so I know we are blessed to all be around to celebrate another year.
Daisy, thank-you. I sometimes forget what a special thing it is to have so many people in my life to celebrate with....you're right.
Vickie, the only way Ralphie can be kept out of anything around here is to be closed up in my craft room. Right now he is trying to catch the words as they appear on my computer screen. He loved socializing at Joni's birthday party~ We need to see pics of you and your sister now!
The three of you look really great and young in those photos! Fun times! Did you ever find your stone? The funny thing is - most of the stuff that keeps us laughing so hard we pee our pants are the stories that keep getting told over and over. No need for new material! Happy Bday Aunt Joni!!!!
A.Joy, Joni showed me where she hid the stone and you're so right about the old stories being a continual source of laughter...who needs new material? One of these days our memories will be dim and the old stories will seem new!
I adore your post on sisters. I too have 3 sisters and have so much fun when we are together. They are the greatest gift from my parents.
LOL!!! - When I was young you would have never have convinced me of my love and need for my sisters as we age.
English Cottage In Georgia, are you the oldest too? I too remember as a young girl not appreciating my sisters, but I think it is because I never really thought I would not have them around .I took them for granted. I am so thankful God has allowed us all to come together often enough in our middle years.
