Agnes Chooses A Winner!

This is Agnes, and she is going to help me choose a winner to receive either some Wee Little Sheep or hand spun wool yarn. Agnes resides in my dove pen, where she is supposed to eat all the seed the doves scatter and waste, and that is a lot of seed. ( you can see it , and I need to clean this pen)
Last Saturday the eggs Agnes has been diligently sitting on began to hatch. 6 of the 7 eggs hatched by Sunday evening. Note the egg by Agnes. She has NOT given up, no, no, NO!
Agnes rolls this egg around with her and the 6 chicks all day. When she rests, she tucks it under her fluffy little breast while her chicks scamper around her and under her wings.
Here is how I will choose the winners with Agnes' help. I made a BIG chart and drew squares enough for all the names of you sweet people who left uplifting comments on my blog. I put your names in the squares. Your names are in as many squares as you left comments since I started the contest. I promise! Here you can see Agnes checking this out, and she touched every square, she LOVED this big piece of paper in her pen. Now, whichever square Agnes leaves a dropping ( as in poop ) in, that will be the winner! It is called Chicken Bingo in 4H.
Agnes took her time I tell you. She also took the chicks with her, and they were so cute, pecking at names, me poised to photograph the winner......well...she took her time. I did some chores and then......
She took some more time, she even lifted the corners , pecked most of the squares again...
And LOOK! English Cottage in Georgia. I love her blog, and Agnes graced this square with her 'stamp of approval'. I thought this is the winner, and it is....but Agnes had another winner in mind too and she showed it by leaving something very precious to her....
She rolled her egg onto Mary's name! Mary also has a wonderful blog and she too is uplifting and encouraging, and she makes very nice soap, I know because I bought some and will buy more !
Thank-you Agnes, you have been very helpful . I hope you, your 6 chicks and little Eggbert have a pleasant evening and sweet chicken dreams. Maybe Eggbert will actually hatch out with so much love tending him. Thank-you all for your comments, for the time you take to read my blog, and especially for so much encouragement and prayer. I hope I can reciprocate even a fraction.

Kathy, what a perfectly grand way to chose a winner. Agnes did a wonderful job. She did appear to enjoy having the paper in her pen, as if she grasped onto her job.

I am excited to be a winner. I will treasure my Wee Little Sheep!

You inspire me, your words, your dedication, your prayer, and your scripture. Staying grounded is not always easy. But it is much easier with the eyes and ears open, with friends that share in their spirit.

I love your game. I think we should make it a party game at family reunions. the kids would have a blast watching and waiting. Did you play that in 4-H ? I was thinking of ordering some of that soap too. Does it make nice gifts? My sister-in-law is comming from California to visit and we are going to Nebraska to visit Paul's brother. I always like to bring a little something for a Hostess gift and thought that would be a good choice.

Kathy, you have a very interesting chicken there! A frizzle Turken? I totally forgot to go buy some eggs from a gal in Roy selling Show Girl chickens and remembered when I was talking to you at Saturday Market, and now I remembered again. I hope I can find her e-mail.

Congrats to the winners, Kathy's creations are very nice things to have for sure!

I have to tell you a funny story. We vacationed in Belize a few years ago, and the locals, the Garafunos, had a chicken bingo game going on, only they were taking money bets. They had a little enclosure surrounded by chicken wire, a grid with at least 100 squares and let a hen out of a basket. Everyone was crowded around yelling and pushing and shoving to see what would happen. As it happened, there were 4 guys from ENgland there and they had placed heavy bets on their squares. We were right in there with everyone else, only you could hear above the ruckus from these 4 guys, in their best British accent, "SH--, chicken! Come on, SH-- for the lads!" We heard it over and over again above the spanish and garafuno languages. It was hilarious! We had tears rolling from our eyes we were laughing so hard!

I really enjoy your blog. Keep up the great work!

I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up on Late Night Television. I can just imagine what Conan O'Brian or David Letterman could do with this on their shows.
It was a great way to start my day.

Love you, sister Karen

Your comments are making me spurt coffee as I laugh!

Agnes is a Bantam, frizzled, cochin/turken! That's quite a combo, isn't it? She is still rolling her egg around!

S.F. Farm, I was picturing a bunch of Englishmen standing around yelling that and too bad you didn't get pictures, that is hilarious!

I know the winner will never have felt so proud to be pooped on by a chicken! My kids LOVE playing chicken bingo at the fair and KN always remembers when her chicken pooped on the winning number! Very creative mom!

Kathy, you are a hoot...!

When my daughter was at my place on the weekend, she was admiring the little black and white sheep you sent me. She loved them. They have a special place on my bookcase, and I look at them every day.

I haven't had time to visit many blogs lately, so I am playing catch-up.

Agnes is adorable, by the way. :-)

Congratulations to the winners!

what a hoot - eggbert is a charmer - quiet, reserved and a tad bit introverted. Wonderful way to pick a winner - congratulations to the winners and all of us who enjoy your blog!

Kathy, that's about the cutest and most creative way to help pick out a winner. I LOVE IT!!! Next year I just have to get some chickens maybe they can help me remember what I need to do next...

Thank-you all again! Agnes had fun helping out. I checked Eggbert out today and although Agnes was still faithfully tending him, he sounded a little squishy when I gently shook him. Since cleaning rotten egg out of the dove pen does not appeal to me, Eggbert was removed, but he had a pretty good time for an egg, don't you think?

HA! That made me laugh. Congratulations to the lucky winners! :D

We have something similar here. A football field is divided up into squares with people purchasing a square (usually done as a fundraiser for a sport or school club, etc.). A cow is allowed to wander the field until she leaves a "deposit" on the winner's square. Half of the money taken in goes to the winner and half to the charity of school team or whatever. :)
