Spot on Doors and Lemonade

~I love pictures of beautiful doors. Not necessarily big and impressive doors, but EXPRESSIVE pictures of doors. I commented on another blogger's( David McMahon of author blog ) wonderful photos of doors and he encouraged me to post pictures of doors. So , above is a picture of me in front of the beautiful doors of an Eastern Washington Winery. My Hubby and I take a picture of each other in front of the doors of all the wineries we visit. For any of you who as a policy do not consume alcohol, most wineries are places of beauty. The gardens, doors, and grounds of many wineries are well worth visiting with friends and family. Take a picnic lunch and soak up the beauty. Friends who appreciate wine will also enjoy the day and the fellowship that follows such a day is priceless!"The doors we open and close each day decide the lives we live" Flora Whittemire ~I received the Lemonade Stand Award! Shannon from Kenleigh Acres presented me with this award for presenting a blog showing " gratitude or great attitude, or both". Thank-you Shannon!I was thinking about what people think when they ponder lemonade...refreshment, "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade", and I too would like to present this refreshing award to to bloggers who I know DO make lemonade out of life's lemons. Not only that, they will serve only refreshingly sweet lemonade to any and all and spare you the sour parts that might have gone into it. ~The first is Miss Mildred of Nalley Valley.Mildred's blog is encouraging, educational, and inspirational. She also is not one to complain, but rejoice in all life has bestowed upon her. Thank-you Mildred. ~The second is my daughter, Autumn at A.Joy At Home. My daughter is and always has been so encouraging. She is also one who will always see how lemons provide lemonade and if you don't like lemonade then you can have lemon meringue pie, or...you get the drift. Don't go complaining to her about anything if you want to wallow in misery....or have someone flatter you with empty deceit. Honestly kind and if you are her Mom, a bit blunt. But then she gets the blunt part from me....poor girl. ~Lemonade and doors....doors and lemonade, whatever doors have opened up for you, or if doors have been slammed shut, may there be other doors opened up to you today that offer startling new and grand choices and opportunities. Make lemonade out of those sour lemons and enjoy whatever life has strewn in front of and around you ! Blessings: optimism in spite of bad times and circumstance, purpose in life

That's an interesting shot, Kathy, not just because of the figure beside you, but because of the segmented reflections of the glass panes of the door.

And thank you for the kind words, too.

Next time you post a door shot, feel free to copy and use the little piece of artwork that says ``The Doors'' on my blog each Thursday.

Thanks for giving me a heads-up on your post .... and I hope to see some more doors here!

Thank you so much for your gracious comments about my suit. I just might take you up on the offer to take that dratted thing off my hands. Oh, what frustrations I experienced while sewing it! I have banished it to the back of my closet for a few weeks while I try to forget my frustrations.

I too love great doors! You shouldn't judge a book by it's cover but you can usually judge a building by it's door! The front door of a person's house also usually says a lot about the people that live there! Ours says we have dogs and kids that when outside - want back in. =) Hey - thanks for the lemonaid stand award! You are a beautiful person, inside and out. Before I step through your blog doors, I always know I am going to be inspired.

One of my favorite door quotes is one from Helen Keller, "When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us."

I love big doors, tall ones. I guess I just love the grand entrance in general. I'll probably never be able to pick my winery doors. How could I make a decision.

David, thank-you! And yes, I already have a few more doors to post. And I would be very honored to use your piece of art work that says " The Doors".

Mildred,Thank-you too.I am feeling better, but I did too much today and am taking it easy tonight.

K-Falls Farmgirl Cheryl! I am so excited to read more of your posts. I might even see familiar sights from K.Falls on your blog.

Amy, thank-you!

Miss Linda, from your pictures your jacket is beautiful.....does it fir you well ? But by all means, toss it my way ( I don't think I am as tiny as you though)I have had a few projects like that and unfortunately there were no little elves in the back of my closet making them any better....but a few weeks break did improve MY perspective.

A.Joy, those verses are perfect !

Mary, wow ! Thank-you! I am going to use that quote from Helen Keller the next time I post a door!

Noble Pig, can't wait to see the doors and entry to your winery.

Oh dear I fear I am too late again oh well, just popped in to say I really like your post today. I like the door thing. And yes, your daughter Autumn always knows how to look on the bright side and what is really lovely is that she is not overly sappy and sentimental, gooshy sweet. She just is.

Thanks Lanny, very, very much!

What a beautiful picture of you, Kathy!! And congrats on your lemonade stand award!
The only winery I've ever been to is the one at Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC... it is truly a gorgeous place and even though I don't normally drink I loved sampling all their wonderful wines with cheese and crackers.

Doors with character are so lovely, just like a lot of old buildings, trees, etc.

WOOHOO! I figure out how to change from the blog name back to the Thistle Cove Farm name...next thing you know, I'll get the big head!

Love the doors and the symbolism they represent as well.

Congratulations on your Lemonade Award, Kathy. It is very much deserved as you always seem to find something cheerful and upbeat to shine a light on for us to see. :)
