Where Did The Time Go?

This is a honeymoon picture of my husband. We had hiked 9 miles one way to Flapjack Lakes in the Olympic National Forest. We camped on an isthmus in between two very beautiful and pristine alpine lakes. There were, and still are , no motor boats, vehicles or ATV's there. We back-packed everything we needed for the next few days, but not as much food as we should have. The fish we caught were very much appreciated and consumed, as were the berries we found. I love this picture of my mountain man husband ( above ). Before we were married he climbed to the top of Mt. Rainier, and he has spent many enjoyable vacations back-packing and hiking the beautiful, wild, and precarious trails in our mountains and rugged coast lines.
My husband paddling a canoe he made. This week was the anniversary of our wedding 36 years ago. My husband has had to be away on business all week. He is coming home tonight. Yay! Happy Anniversary Jim!
"Are you fishing for dreams ? Then bait your hook With a bit of reality, then swing out and cast your line Far out into Life's sea. Let every dream have a fighting chance, Give it plenty of slack, But settle only for the biggest and best- Throw the little ones back. Are you fishing for dreams? Then I wish you luck, It's a good dream-fishing day, May you catch a beauty-but oh, take care, Lest the big one get away." Helen Lowrie Marshall
Thank-you Lord the "big one" did not get away and we have more days to "dream-fish"!

Congratulations on your Anniversary! Your honeymoon sounds like a real adventure. Mine was spent in a cabin in the woods but we did not hike 9 miles to get to it, and we went into town for pizza. Not quite as remote as yours, but fun as well. Welcome home to your husband...

If age brings wisdom. Why haven't we learned to burn all those reminders of the body that once was! :-)

wonderful memories - he looks the same - well I mean purposeful and in a life he loves - maybe a little different in the hair and waist but not all that much! One advantage of growing old together - our eyesight changes to lovefocal instead of just trifocals! Happy Anniversary - y'all bless the rest of us through the witness of your life together.

My Husband hopes I let you know we went to Vancouver and Victoria , Canada for the first week of our honeymoon, lest anyone think he just took me hiking and fishing. The 2nd week we were married, still on our honeymoon, is when we went backpacking and fishing!

Thank you all for your wishes and congratulations! After more than 3 and 1/2 decades I KNOW he is still the best for me, the one God prepared for me before we were born!I only hope he feels that way about me!

Noble Pig, he did make a blue canoe, and we used it until after all our children were born, then he gave it to his brother.....

Gooseshooter, ha ha! Sometimes it is nice to look back and remember we were once young and in good shape!( everything worked)

LindaSue, I am going to remember that, our" eyesight changes to love sight instead of tri-focals", one of my husbands' most frequently uttered phrases is " where are my reading glasses?".

Thistle Cove Farm, I love that blessing!

Wobegone Cottage, we had a great time! Thanks...

Happy belated anniversary!

My folks went camping and fishing for their June honeymoon in '46. But it is nice that Jim took you to a lovely city first!

Daisy, we're hoping for many more too!

Leslie, it was fun...and my Hubby wants me to let people know we had the first week in proper city hotels with lots of special foods before we went back packing the next week.

Kathleen, 36 years is more that 3 and 1/2 decades. Yes, amazing! And it has gone by quickly.

Audrey Y, thank-you. It is a good poem, isn't it?

Lanny, your folks did that? Your Mom? I think your Mom is more and more interesting as I learn more about her...

Nancy M, thank-you. I like to look at pictures of my Hubby from back "in the old days". We both look mighty different.
